My Friends

Submitted by Sarah on Tue, 05/22/2007 - 00:37

Friends shape you, mold you, and influence you.

Friends love you and comfort you,
Laugh with you and cry with you,
Play with you and work with you.

Friends will be with you in sickness, and in health,
In joy and in sorrow,
In poverty and in riches.

Friends are good listeners, and always have a shoulder for you to lean on.

Friends encourage you to do what is right,
and will not participate in what is wrong.

Friends were sent to earth, from God.

My Father

Submitted by Sarah on Tue, 05/22/2007 - 00:17

My earliest memories are of my Father.

He taught me most of what I know.
Patience, perseverence, kindness, love, compassion.

He also taught me more physical things.
Riding horses, Writing, Reflexology.

I have also learned that death does not end love. My Father passed away in August 2006.

Cherish your Father, you do not realize just how much you love and need somone, until they are gone.

Pathway

Submitted by Raine on Sun, 05/20/2007 - 21:29

The path stretches before me,
Speckled with fallen leaves
It waits.

The air is still and silent.
Like the hour before a storm...
It waits.

Snow lays on the ground
Firmly hushing the world.
It waits.

The clouds are heavy and gray,
Filled with soft, light crystals.
They wait.

Birds light on the ground,
Huddling close together,
They wait.

The entire earth holds its breath,
Silent, unmoving and anxious.
Waiting.

On Life and Love

Submitted by Aisling on Sat, 05/19/2007 - 18:55

I think life is a new, strange, different, deeper thing...since the last time I wrote anything for you. I've lived a lot, these last few months; in some ways, it feels like I've lived more since the end of last year than since the beginning of my life.

Tonight

Submitted by Timothy on Sat, 05/19/2007 - 04:42

The night is young, and so are we, and all of us are here
We’ll take a walk down a lonely street with those whom we hold dear
The stars are faint, the streetlight glow will find us walking side by side
We’ll lose ourselves inside this moment and let our worries die

The future stretches on, and who can say what paths we’ll take?
Our lives may never meet again, and the end may be heartbreak
But in this moment we are all together, and love will light a glow
To burn inside our hearts forever, no matter where we go

Heretic

Submitted by Roxanna on Fri, 05/18/2007 - 23:45

So this is what it feels like to be hated.

I always wondered, after being raised in such a loving environment, if such a thing as hate really existed.

Now I know. I feel the metal of this cage scrape across my flesh, and I know. Hate is a real, living, viable force. Hate has placed me here. Hate will let me die here. All because I have a different set of beliefs.

April, Unexpected

Submitted by Nikki on Tue, 05/15/2007 - 03:03

did you forget
the color of new
leaves silhouetted against
peaches and
cream sky and did you
forget
the kiss of pollen
the gasp of life
this everyday miracle
this splash of red
azealea
and also forgotten blue
twilight
and sun, sand, wind
sweat on my skin
and the GIFT of spring -
did you forget
the terrible joy,
the beautiful ache?
