Youth is Innocence

Submitted by Madeline on Fri, 01/07/2011 - 16:11

Youth is innocence

A beacon of trust

Honesty not marred

Health still unscathed

Friendships fulfilled

Bright smiling faces

Yet to be burned

And freed of all worries

Youth is innocence

Burdenless wealth

Undying curiosity

Marked with optimism

Free of imagines

Buth gruesome and vile

Untouched by affairs

From the outside world

Youth is innocence

Painless, easy

Simple as numbers

Easy as breathing

Tass -Pt. 23

Submitted by Tahlia Grant on Thu, 01/06/2011 - 02:06

"Tass! Can't you take anything seriously?"

"Yes."

"Why don't you?"

"I do."

"When?"

"Do you actually think I took Karoy's death lightly?"

"You certainly acted like it!"

"That's because it's happened so often that I know I have to do things quickly. I've learned that I can't stop. Matthan will be back."

"Matthan? Is that the archer?"

"Yes."

"Who is he?"

Tass picked Danid up and started back towards the clearing they had been in before finding out that Karoy had been killed.

"The Old Outcasted" Tale of the Whining Wind

Submitted by Kassady on Wed, 01/05/2011 - 01:31

Winds blow so cold,
The whining wind is old,
and many stories it has told.
"Through many deep abis,
An old figure tis-
walk the moonless night,
he walks with cold and walks without light,
Oh in the the moonless night!

Walk'ith he dead,
Walk'ith he alive,
Walk'ith he away from bed,
Walk'ith he with toes, five.

Yes he wonder's aimless,
Yes he walk'th alone,
Yes he walks in Darkness,
Yes he walk'ith alone.

Oh to the old man alone!

Danid was lying on the ground. An arrow -the same as the ones that had killed Karoy -was in his right shoulder.

Rynere stared in shock for a moment, her last meal threatening to return the way it came, then whirled around.

"Tass! I need help!"

A movement in the nearby trees made Rynere jump, but it was only Tass. He half-smiled.

"Happens every time."

"Tass!"

"It's alright, Ryn. He'll live."

"What are you going to do?"

"Step back, Ryn, you're not going to be a help right now."

I Watched the Moon

Submitted by Hannah W. on Mon, 01/03/2011 - 15:51

I watched the moon. I watched it wax and wane
I watched it take on different shapes.
I watched it thin, I watched it grow,
and somehow it felt good to know
Every night is not the same.
The weather and the seasons change.

They measure the tides that go in and out
they know how to predict the clouds.
There are scientific names for phases,
a term for each way the moon looks and changes.

They name the waters, they name the stars
they view the world from inside their cars.
