Trapped

Submitted by Christin on Thu, 04/05/2018 - 17:57

“The store will be closing in 5 minutes. Please bring all of your final purchases to the checkout counter. Thank you.”
The monotonous voice droned over the loudspeaker, just as it had at the 10, 15, 30, and 60 minute warnings. I rolled my eyes, and looked back at the two shirts I was considering. I loved them both, but they were really expensive and I was afraid my checkbook would not appreciate it if I purchased both.

The Eight Pages (Slender, part 3)

Submitted by Dan on Tue, 05/27/2014 - 22:51

John Casey was getting back home after a short walk around the neighborhood. As he walked into the house, he found it strange that the lights were out. He flicked the switch on the wall to turn on the chandelier in the living room. Nothing. He went around, feeling his way down the hallway, flicking switches to no avail.

"Mary? Where are you?" he yelled.

No answer.

He called for Nora.

No answer.

By this point Mr. Casey was beginning to worry. He remembered of how he felt when he heard that his brother was missing. He couldn't let his family down.

Short Story

Submitted by Elizabeth Anne on Sat, 02/04/2012 - 14:27

Hi all! I am sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I have been having some trouble with internet explorer that has made it really hard to post anything. Since I haven't posted anything in a while, I decided to just post a short story instead of another chapter in one of my other stories. I hope you like it. The main idea that I want to get across is that Jesus is Lord of all and can use anything to draw his children closer to him. Please let me know if I got that message across. Was the thing with the light and the darkness confusing, or did it enhance the meaning?

Raven

Submitted by Bernadette on Sat, 12/10/2011 - 01:48

A dark city
Where a stream of dreams
Have come passing through
To give you the dream of the gulls
And the heartbeat of the waves

No song is murmured here
Nor dream stayed and lingered
There is a wind which carries them away
Like the wings of a raven

Your thoughts are not spoken
And silence leaves you wondering
Wondering of a boat and an oar
All of timber and strings

Lady Moon

Submitted by little woman on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 00:41

She moves across the sky,

silken sails billowing with light

          bright ivory next to midnight.

Stars all around,

dancing though the dark

life radiating from each little spark.

Mysteries revealed,

if just for a while

hiding within the Moon's secret smile.

The Beauty of Pain

Breathing in the scent of fire
(oh, it’s such a sweet aroma)
my lungs are filled with ashes
(don’t you love their black color?)
My flesh is struggling and fighting
but my mind falls into a slumber.
Who would have ever thought
that the crystal air I will be in need of?

Playful flames my skin are gently burning
I try to catch them with my fingers
(their smiling faces are so tempting!)
Oh, instead they leave me bleeding,
(crimson water drops the stony floor
beneath my bare feet start decorating)

Forgotten

I am the necklace
you never wear.
You stuff my golden chain
inside the darkness
of your drawer
and neglect to set my sapphire
close
to your neck
to gleam, to shine
in fulfilling light.

Sunset

Submitted by stringbean on Tue, 05/04/2010 - 02:50

I love to see a sunset!

A sky not just blue

but orange, green, and russet

yellow and purple too!

The sky is briefly colored-rainbow

Colors stretching around earth's bend

With beams bright or mellow

It has not rain or even end!

No end to color in the sky

But brief is the medley's stay

for eventually they must bid good-bye

Night overtakes the day.

Dark Light

Submitted by Rachel on Wed, 01/28/2009 - 02:33

Okay, so i wrote this at the begining of my first year of college (or last October). It was originally supposed to be a song but i could never come up with music for it so i decided to pass it off as a poem. It talks about how God erases the Darkness from our hearts when we ask him inside our hearts and he takes over and saves us from "Our Dark Light". It's not the greatest poem in the world and in truth i is poorly writen but it's what i felt. So without further to do please enjoy, Dark Light. (Leave me your thoughts and comments even if they are harsh. :D )
