Warm light in night's grasp....

Submitted by Elizabeth on Mon, 03/08/2010 - 02:09

The golden light burns, glows, smolders                            The doorstep of night…. flutters, ripples, flees, amongst                             Dark shadow’s shade…. The branches receive, uphold, bear                              The eve of springtime…. hover, reach, display, before                               Airy palate blue…. The bitter breeze sweeps, twirls, heralds                               The icy morn’s dew…. flies, soars, brushes, the land with                               Cape of numbing cold……..

Dawn

I wrote this  with the Pride and Prejudice Dawn song in mind, so read this through a few times, then go listen to that song.

Oh, Dawn,

See how thy light of golden skyline glows
Oh Light, that over yon hill slowly grows.
Thy warming rays of softly claiming light
Pursue the swiftly fleeting mystery of night

Oh, Dawn,

See how the flowers unfold, the Sun to greet
While yet the shadows of the night retreat
Hear as birds join in the symphony of sight and sound
While always Dawn advances o’er the frozen ground

Dark Light

Okay, so i wrote this at the begining of my first year of college (or last October). It was originally supposed to be a song but i could never come up with music for it so i decided to pass it off as a poem. It talks about how God erases the Darkness from our hearts when we ask him inside our hearts and he takes over and saves us from "Our Dark Light". It's not the greatest poem in the world and in truth i is poorly writen but it's what i felt. So without further to do please enjoy, Dark Light. (Leave me your thoughts and comments even if they are harsh. :D )

DARK LIGHT

Pure Joy

Pure joy,
so good, so wonderful
just the memory makes my heart soar
I can still feel the wind
as cold as the snow
and the ice all around us
as it rushed through my hair
as I spun around, twirling,
my mind spinning, whirling
reveling in the new revelation
And the yellow light, spilling
from the windows and doors
and the darkness that glittered
with crystal stars up above
Just the sound of laughter,
and the sight of a smile
makes my soul lift even higher
Running, and spinning,

In a vault
no way out.
Screams,
echoing madly.

A Light,
at the far end.
It frightens,
and draws me.

A Darkness,
holding me back.
I struggle,
but cannot move.

The Light,
it beckons me.
To draw nearer,
but I am held tight.

I scream,
not a cry of despair.
But a cry for help.
The Light draws nearer.

The Darkness,
tightens it’s hold.
The Light,
seeks to pull me away.

In the midst,
of a colossal battle,
