Embers

Cold stone floor
And withered leaves
The night was brooding
O’er the wind

Flames were weary
Mist all gathering
Caught in twilight
Breaths all thin

A web of dust
Laid on stone
The spider coughed
And crawled alone

The stars were crowns
Waiting while watching
The leaves swinging
In the night whispering

Blue the new moon
And bitter his song
Sung by the gulls
Or the owls on the bough

If I fall in love...

Broken hearts are very strange.  Sometimes they catch you when you don't even realize your heart can be broken.  Sometimes they'll sneak up on you slowly and one day you realize, my heart is broken - how can I be living?  And occasionally, they'll even heal.

Usually they don't heal immediately.  Mine took months.  In fact, it took almost a year, which is a long time for someone my age.  And then one day, I saw the subject that had broken said heart, and I wondered why on earth I had wanted him.  My heart mended pretty quickly after that.

Thieves: Chapter 1

“Quick, hide in here!” The man moved the solid wooden block that served as a table out of the way, revealing a trapdoor underneath. Kamber looked down into the dark space, it was nothing more than a hollow in the ground but he needed to hide and there was nowhere else to go. He jumped down and pressed himself against the dirt. The man who was hiding him shut the trap door and hastily tried to pull the table back on top.

Jesus Knew

Submitted by Anna on Mon, 09/26/2011 - 21:23

Jesus knew every stage of the cursed tree He bled on. He was there when the seed fell to the earth with thousands of its kin; He watched it fight for root space and force its way to the surface. He had tended the dirt himself and fashioned the scientific principles that allowed it to turn sunlight and water into food. He knew where the oxygen it breathed out went.

Dear Homeschooling Friends,

I am finally back and writing again.  I've been rather distracted of late, what with working at a camp all summer and picking up my piano tuning business upon my return.

Fall has begun, and so comes the time to choose a topic for Autumn.  First of all, do any of you have any suggestions?

Anna has again made a suggestion.  She wrote me and said,

It's Not That Simple ((Chapter Eleven))

WARNING: READ CHAPTER TEN BEFORE YOU DO THIS CHAPTER. ALSO, DO NOT READ MY AUTHORS NOTE IF YOU HAVE YET TO READ CHAPTER TEN. IT WILL GIVE TOO MUCH AWAY.

Goodness. Was that subtle enough? Anyway, I'd like to say a few words. Ahem.

Hopefully, Chapter Ten was action-packed enough for you without being too gruesome. I had to make certain things happen. I guess INTS (Still not catchy!) will be coming to a close winthin the month of October, or halfway through November. I'm not even going to talk sequels. Too risky.

Thieves: Prologue

Princess Kaisten stood very still as she was fitted for her new dress. The seamstress put a needle into the dress to mark the changes she would need to make, accidently pricking Kaisten’s arm in the process.

            “Ouch!” She exclaimed.

“Sorry, your highness; it was not intended.” The seamstress said as she continued her work.

"Uh, downstairs."

Amelia led him back over the broken pot into the living room on the other side of the house. Ethel was coming down the stairs, a teacup in her hand. She looked at Matthew and chuckled before turning into the kitchen.

"That's Ethel," Amelia said. "The living room ...we don't spend as much time here as we do the other rooms. The reason it's a mess is that we use this as a thru-way from the kitchen to the backyard and the nursery."
