Gone

Someone I used to know
Died tonight
I just remember his
Shining face and simple dreams
Just yesterday we were eight or nine
Or something
Running like kids do
He called my dog stupid
And I protested loudly
Truth or dare, my backyard
"do you like me?"
"NO" obstinately but I lied
Just two months shy of 18 now, I think
Now he's gone and I didn't even
Get to know him now as he is
Was
He didn't even get to say goodbye
To the family who loved him
And he thought he was immortal

Fall Poems: Second Installment

Breathe

I'm sitting up late watching old videos
And not believing how much I have changed
I think I'm better now but it's just on a whim
She seemed pretty happy back then
All the same

Bathroom Sink

It's just a small old
Picky thing
Something that can be
Pulled apart
I fix my gaze over the sink
And keep my tone as icy-sharp
As I can stand
For it to be

Westward Ho! part one

May 3rd, 185-
My dear Lydia,
It feels as if ages have passed since I moved away from you, and oh! how my heart still aches with missing you. But God knows best, and I am sure that this will be a better job for Papa than the last one was. He is already busy building the new school for the neighborhood, and drawing out the plans for our new home. Right now we are renting a small house in the middle of town, but Papa has bought about 25 acres five miles out of town.

Love

Marriage is a blessing
Sent from God above.
Two hearts conversed
And the subject was love.

Leader and helpmeet
They will always be,
Singing together,
Living in harmony.

The Tale of One Who Lives

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Fri, 09/12/2014 - 05:41

O, you weak and wretched man who sins,
Listen to this tale of One who lives;
A holy God who put off His crown,
Humbled Himself, to earth He came down.
In the form of a small babe He came,
A weak little thing, born in the hay.
Such a blessed thought; He came to save,
He healed the sick, the blind and the maimed.
Reached out to the lost, calmed raging seas,
Then died on the cross to ransom me.
He payed for my sins. Now I believe!
How can I show you the joy I feel
Since I learned that He broke the tomb's seal?

Peace of God

Peace God sent me,
Sent from above.
He sent it to me
To remind me of His love

My salvation is true,
My faith is strong,
No price is due:
For in Christ there's no wrong.

The joy I now posses,
The trust He has asked,
He gives me no less;
I love Him at last.

Child of God

How come everyone complains
About how hard life's getting,
When on that tree at Calvary
My holy King was smitten?

God sacrificed His only Son
To ransom all His chosen ones.
On that cross Christ forgave us,
Then He cried "It is done!"

Child of God He's forgiven you,
Can you forgive yourself?
It is wrong yet still you sin,
And then you put it on the shelf.
