Fall Poems - Fourth Installment

Brown Rice

Waist-deep in brown-rice flour
I feel sort of proud of myself
For creating such delicious things
To wake up to the email
In my inbox is a notification
From my kinder-music teacher
Who says she hopes I pursue
A literary career
She likes my writing style
And I'm kind of anxious for Saturday
Both excited and nervous
All the same
But the weekend is beckoning me with
Cozy fall fingers and I
Can't wait to get there
In a couple of days

Childhood Rules~Surprise Party (31)

Submitted by Kassady on Tue, 10/14/2014 - 05:20

Childhood Rules
Not the perfect one you thought me to be,
Not as angelic or pure,
Finding out I'm not as mature as you thought,
And that I've broken some childhood rules.
Thoughts of purity,
Built up as a little girl,
All seem too strict and constricting now,
Because being "appropriate",
Would literally be hiding away,
Covering every inch of skin,
And waiting till I'm thirty and married,
To just kiss someone "on the lips!"

The Piano Part 1

Submitted by Mikaela Grace on Wed, 10/08/2014 - 01:58

I gently laid my hands onto the lid of something I knew not of. I felt guilty touching such a lovely crafted wooden lid with my grubby hands that had never touched something so wonderful and smooth. I looked around the room, making sure there was no one to see me, a street girl, in this old deserted clock tower. I lifted the lid, my whole being just wanting to know what was inside. My mouth opened in an awed o shape at the sight that lay in front of my bright blue eyes. The white reminded me of snow, and the black of my hair.

God Loves The Lost

I wrote furiously. Everything that came into my mind, was in a second on the cream coloured scroll. I had so much to express, and yet couldn’t get everything out and into words. I had bought the empty scroll with the little money I earned from working in the cotton factory. Being an orphan and having no one to talk to made me bottle away everything to myself, and I decided I could no longer keep it all in. I had to clear my mind, and get it all out. At first I had searched for a friend, but everyone rejected me, due to my ugliness. No one had ever loved me except for my Mother.
