A Fighting Flight

Submitted by Elliot Hawthorne on Mon, 02/01/2016 - 15:42

Faster,
Run faster,
its slipping
Slipping past my fingertips,
trying to hold
tight
through the dips and
dives of my
flight,
true to the wind,
I spin
flying uncontrollably,
I know I won't win
fighting against the wind
now,
the fight
of my flight,
as it slips through my fingers
the fight
thefight,
its hard
toohard,
my hands go limp
and my wings go numb
spinning, crashing, falling,
I cant escape.
the feeling,
I'm failing
I'm losing the fight,
screaming, crying
I stop fighting,
I fall
I'll let You catch me
Now.

This is beautiful! I love this:
"true to the wind,
I spin
flying uncontrollably,
I know I won't win"

Altogether lovely.

I LOVE THIS COMPLETELY! This is my favorite poem!!!!!!! I have a lot of those, but, you know... STILL!!!!!

The line breaks and flow really captured a feeling of flightyness (if that's a word) and desperation. GENIUS!!!!!!!!!! I loved this line: 'The fight of my flight'! A beautiful poetic phrase right there!

Anyway, thank you for this wonderful poem! It brought a smile to my face and an image to my head.
