The wind is dancing about you
and rain pours through the day
washing it away
to another rainy day
The hope that comes with sunshine
seems lost amidst the clouds
while dampness soaks right through you
security drowning in flood
The rain is falling, pouring
blowing through the field
and everything that's withered
begins to rise and lift it's face
for tomorrow's brighter skies
The rain pours down, dropping
into hands held up, outstretched
reflections of the sky
leaves this heart to fly
Fingers part, and waters call
charging to the ground they fall
breaking, shattering to life
a heart without strife
A child smiles with brightened face
for clouds that darken
and shadows left to trace
the mountains
Your day is gray
with sunshine far away
and you're wishing you could have stayed
far away from today
And you cannot understand
why this would have been planned
or the cost of the day
But there's grace in the pain
Rain falls on barren fields
and pain is dropping as joy
frightened tears, washed away
from a child's hungry face
Giving them rain
giving them grace
easing the pain
from this broken place
The eyes that cried of hunger
now smile with thanks to God
for your rain that fell with blessing
on these hearts barren so long

beautiful
I love it, Brianna. It's immensely powerful. You've captured an excellent piece of inspiration--especially in stanzas 3, 4, 6 and 9. That's beautiful poetry. :)

But Aisling, I wasn't pleased with the results. :( It was a lot more beautiful in my mind. Somehow it still feels lacking...
