The Suburbs

1. Panic
I have so much to do
I can't even
Ugh

2. Enchanted
People's eyes never grow
We are born and we die
Our eyes stay the same
Yours are enchanting
I'm glad they'll never change

3. Incomprehensible
I don't get it
How do they not love you
The way that I do

4. Lifesaver
You're saving my life
Again
You said to me
Your voice husky over the phone
You say that a lot
It's your thank you when someone helps you out
That doesn't change
The way those words make me feel
Because you say them like you mean them
I never thought of myself as too much of a people pleaser
I actually used to consider myself sort of selfish
But when it comes to you my answer will always be
Yes

5. Stupid
You are all I think about
As pathetic as that may be
I'm not getting over it
At least not anytime soon
Two days away from you is a little too much
Please stay with me
Let me breathe you in one last time

6. Completely and Unequivically Consumed
Sometimes parts of your life consume you
And those people in those parts of your life become your identity
Now I scarcely have a good memory that doesn't have you in it
Although it is possible that is by my unintentional design
A selective memory that picks out your image
And the sweet rasp of your voice
Remembers those moments with sharper clarity than others
Repeats them over and over
It's funny and sad that I haven't hardly even seen you outside of this building
This parking lot
Except for that one time
When you were with her
Darling, you have consumed me
More than anybody else
I have to say I love you because I have no other words for this madness I'm stuck in
Nothing will really describe how I feel besides physical action
I've always thought that I was better than that
But I honestly don't know much of anything anymore

7. Ridiculous
For about five seconds we were feeling alive
Or so I let myself believe
I'm so stupid when I fall in love

8. Sappy
We could be all flowers and dark chocolates

9. Good Days
Horse's mane slight fall breeze
I suddenly feel nine years old again
A quick rush of little girl memories
Smiles and sore legs
Frozen fingers and arena lights
I'm happy.

10. The Suburbs
Step through the door and he's standing there
Back turned like it always is nowadays
Glazed eyes looking out the window where the neighborhood kids play
I don't know how he got this way
He and I were once a hurricane, taking out everything that stood in our way
Now we're just the suburbs, money is our anthem
He works nine-to-five and calls me "dear" instead of "love"
I miss the passion, I miss the thrill
Of being a destructive force of nature
Now we are just another mundane three bedroom townhouse with a freshly mowed lawn and a full bottle of wine

11. Happy
I want to feel excited about something again
Maybe that's why I tend to push the envelope
See how far I can go before I care
About something else other than that wonderful boy sitting across from me

Notes

These are all notes from my phone-my computer is down :(. Anyway, they're pretty rough, but I hope you like them! Music people should listen to The Suburbs by Arcade Fire-I feel like it fits the mood. Plus it's an awesome song. Lol, anyway, critique please!

Comments

Now I have the Over the Hedge "Stuck in the Suburbs" song stuck in my head :P Thanks.
These are very nice, very intricate and well written. Lifesaver was probably my favorite and The Suburbs was brilliant!!
Keep writing!

I liked Enchanted. I love eyes and enchanting is a perfect description for some. Lifesaver is good: "Your voice husky over the phone" I know that feeling all too well.
Completely and Unequivically Consumed is ssssoooo good! Great job on that.
I loved Sappy, even though it was only one line. Good Days remind me of my own care free childhood :)
Suburbs is good, I espeically like the beginning :P
And Happy's nice too. I really like the flow of that one.

Sorry I can't describe anything other than "good, great, nice". I'm having one of those days where words escape me *sigh*
