Broken Glory

It's the rage of all the ages

it's the cry of all our hearts

it's the sin that drowns the beauty

tearing us apart

It's the ache we feel with silence

it's the voice that goes unheard

it's the times when we are troubled

it's the times we're not assured

It's the helpless little babies

it's the blessing never known

it's the line that needed drawing

it's the the love never shown

It's the heart that bleeds with longing

it's the times we're far away

it's the bridge that needed crossing

it's the pain throughout the day

It's the killing empty feeling

it's the long hard path you trod

it's the searching for some meaning

it's the innocence you lost

It's the scream of angry voices

it's the pull from right to wrong

it's the world and all it's choices

it's the line not in the song

It's the bitter cup you offered

it's the cup you did not take

it's the truth that you denied

it's the times when you were fake

It's the time you saw the giants

but the time you failed to fight

it's the help you turned away from

it's the time you thought you might

It's the tears that won't stop coming

it's the spear that tore your side

it's the times when you were running

it's the times you need to hide

It's the times you did not let go

it's the time you did not walk away

it's the times you went with the flow

it's the times you had to pay

It's the time you lost your mother

it's the time you could not cry

it's the time you killed another

it's the time you tried to die

It's the depth of all things passing

it's the sorrow from the change

it's the times you were not asking

it's the times you disengaged

It's the times you had to let go

it's the memories that haunt

it's the things that you know

it's the times that daunt

It's the time you were betrayed

it's the times you never dared

it's the child taken away

it's the moments you didn't share

It's the parent that betrayed you

it's the friend who walked away

it's the offering not coming through

it's the time you did not pray

It's the times when you are weary

it's the family you never knew

it's the times when your line is bleary

it's the hate directed at you

It's the question left unanswered

it's the time you let it fade

it's the time when it all hurt

it's the moments you were ashamed

It's the pain of misunderstanding

it's the times when you are scared

it's the confusion of humanity

it's the times you do not care

......that He bore.

Knuckles white

sweating hands

dripping blood

saves this land

tears that fell

falling still

knees aground

striving will

on his shoulders

holding high

broken glory

saves us tonight

"I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

That was one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read...thank you

Brianna,

This is powerful! You explain the work of the Cross in such vibrant words and original expressions. I love this! At first I didn't understand what you were talking. The repetition of the "it's" lines didn't make sense until you threw that "that He bore" line in, and after that, it all fell in place. I particularly liked your last two stanzas: "tears that fell / falling still / knees aground / striving will // on his shoulders / holding high /broken glory / saves us tonight" This poem explains salvation in a way that does not rely on the cliche. Thank you for writing this.

I'm afraid the true beauty of his sacrifice is eternally better than any words could say. This was just a way in which I hoped to do it some justice.
Thank you so much.
