Awakened: A New Film

As some of you may know, I am quite interested in the field of filmmaking, and you can find some of my films here: www.vimeo.com/meridianpictures

Anyway, after working two years on an epic fantasy film, and another six months on a period-drama comedy, I wanted to try something different. First, I wanted to experiment on a Saint movie (our choice was St. Germaine), but then, inspiration hit. It usually does, at the most dreadfully inconvenient times, doesn't it? In light of all the fairy tales I've been writing of late, I decided that perhaps to film one would be an adventure. So, the title of it is:

                                                                AWAKENED

You might be able to guess what it is from that most descriptive title. If not, I shall endeavor to enlighten you; the full title is:

AWAKENED: A TALE OF SLEEPING BEAUTY

The story? Grab Enchanted, throw it in the blender with some of my fairy tales, and out comes this:

Princess Eulalia, nicknamed Lia, has been put under a spell at her Christening by the evil enchanter, Lord Captor. To get back at the King for an 'unjust' action towards himself, Captor swears that Princess Lia will die on the eve of her eighteenth birthday. However, Lia's Godmother Tiaria, assures the royal family that this will not be so, and gives Lia a special gift: a kiss.

Meanwhile, Lia grows up, and, sure enough, on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, Captor shows up at the castle. But there is something new; Captor has fallen in love with Lia! And if she will not marry him, he will throw her into a 1000-year sleep. Of course, she refuses, and falls asleep on the spot, never to see her family again.

When Lia awakens after all those years, she finds herself in a modern world. A young man happens to be there when she wakes, and therefore becomes her sort of protector. Lia must learn to live in a world so unlike her own, while the young man, Drew by name, realizes that the old ideals of chivalry are timeless and should not disapear with the passing years. Lia's fairy Godmother Tiaria has followed Lia, and keeps 'in disguise' while easing things along for the two prospective lovers. However, Lord Captor is also afoot. By putting himself to sleep for 1000 years, he awakens at the same time, and seeks to find Lia by sending shadows after her.

These shadows find Lia, after a fight with Drew, and bring her to Captor. Drew follows, and leaps in the way to prevent Captor from casting another sleep-spell on Lia. As Drew falls asleep, Captor turns his gaze once again on the mourning Lia, who suddenly realizes that she cannot live without Drew. As Captor is about to cast another spell on Lia, Tiaria intervenes, and.... there's a blank just there in the story. Just know that Captor gets.... 'taken care of somehow'. Tiaria then reminds Lia of the kiss she gave her at her Christening, and tells her that only she can wake Drew from his sleep. Lia kisses Drew (don't worry, she plants it on his forehead. No mush in my stories!) who then awakens. And happily ever after.

So, what do y'all think of it? I admit that the storyline is very, very rough, but hey, give a script-writer a break once in a while! I think that the story can be achieved with very few characters, and still come out in a very vibrant way. I'm already into the script, and it's coming along very well.

That sounds like a pretty good story line.  :)

This sounds like a fun story!

Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!
