The Sail of the Moon has Opened

~For the Theme of Spring, a Mysterious Jar

You’re spinning by

Too fast for me to hold you

My arms are reaching, my hands are grasping

You’re passing me by my fingertips

You are glowing,

Glowing like the moon is within your skin

You laugh and pass me by

Like mist in the hills

There mist lays white-brushed clouds

Yet it’s unreachable

Your wings are silver

Glimmering like a fish’s tail

The wind is carrying you swiftly by

You said you would wait for me

Wait for me on the moon

You are dancing

Too nimble for me to follow you

Perhaps this is all a dream

‘Till morning sunders

Your dress is like mail

Shimmering like silk

Shining like pearl

You say the moon is calling

The boat has opened its sails

Yet wait as a shadow falls

Crossing the starlit path

Where no wind blew, to move the branches

To pass a shadow on moon’s face

You dance like a flame

Then lid and glass

Sweep over you

You are wrapped up like a star in dawn

Which wracks the sky in mystery

Asunder it blows

Like a horn in the mist

Like a firefly in a pit

This poem was amazing. It was so beautiful that I had to read it aloud. It felt magical to me, and certainly mysterious. The ending felt sad to me, but in a way that was what made it a great poem.

Enchantingly beautiful, intriguingly mysterious. It leaves you feeling like you've just awakened from a beautiful dream that you can't quite remember...

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

There really should be more writing like this out there in the published world.

OK, well, I started writing out this comment with some of my favorite lines from this poem... But there were so many I was practically copying in the whole thing! It is all very poetic. Love this, love the dream-like quality. It made me think somewhat of fairies, but I also really like the underlying tone of something slipping by...
You're really maturing as a poet and a writer. That is awesome to see.

The poem and the words are truly touching and amazing!!
