Where you are, nobody knows
“Missing in action” is how the story goes
It was a secret ambush, or maybe a failed attack
But in any case, you never came back

For family and friends, life won’t be the same,
And you can be sure, they’ll remember your name
But as for your country, you might feel betrayed
You might be thinking, “They’ll forget in a day”

The Wizard's Ball

Once upon a time--indeed upon the beginning of time as we know it--there lived a wizard.

Not the sort of wizard that wears a blue robe with bright yellow stars on it, and sits and stirs a cauldron all day. No, he was a real wizard.”

“What did he look like?” Rannon interrupted.

The old man laughed, at the old familiar question. “You know,” he said, “I think that question has become every bit as much a part of the story as the story itself!”

I was struck with the idea for this piece a few days ago, and I hope that I shall be able to remember all I had intended to write!

No Greater Love: A Reflection on Christ's Words, and Literature

“There is no greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.” Most everyone has heard these words before, I suppose. Indeed the statement has become so familiar to us as to make it hard for us to look deeper to grasp their full meaning. If you think a moment you will soon realize the words, and I am sure most of us would agree that, should it ever come to it, we would be willing to die for our friend. Though we can only hope to be given the courage and constancy to really do it.
