spiritual growth

The Strait Gate

Submitted by Sarah Liz on Wed, 04/27/2016 - 03:23

The gate that we enter is narrow
The passersby are few
The clouds above us are threatening
The fog is thickn’ing gloom

The brothers around us are fainting
Our blood is mixed with our sweat
The air is fraught with dark danger
The ground with pitfalls and snares.

But, hark! The cries of angels
Lo! The sound of song
Hear the voice of heavenly anthems
Ring out on higher ground.

Don’t give up, my brother
Stay strong, my sister dear
Though the war around is raging
Fight on to higher ground.

The War Within

Note: Here is a new piece that came to me bit by bit the other day. It centers around spiritual warfare and that good will triumph over evil. Sorry if it is a bit intense, but that is part of the emotion I was trying to convey.

Smoldering eyes,

Tell unending lies,

That pin me down with shame.

Talons attack,

Pain is back,

Yet I was not to blame.

Arms raised,

Primavera*

You have been pushing, pushing
Pushing me
Until I am forced to open.

Grow, plant, grow.
Dig, roots, dig.

It started in May,
But I was still a bud
Until November.

Bloom, flower, bloom.
Drink, tendril, drink.

Now I’m shivering,
Too young to have petals
But not emerald alone.
It is now winter,
And I am going to die.
Thank you???

Live, rose, live.

You promised me
Not dead oaths, but
Flourishing, colorful covenants.
