Essays from an Adventure, Part 6: Free and Unafraid

I might have been a great physicist, had I been given a brain that didn’t commence automatic emergency shutdown procedures at the first sign of anything more complex than simple multiplication.
As it is, my fate has limited me to having an enormous respect for the work that physicists do, and a passionate fascination with their field of study. Hence, I do have a rudimentary understanding of physics in a rather instinctual way, even though I couldn’t explain the mathematical technicalities if my life depended on it.

Love Wins

Trying to keep my heart at bay
Trying to keep feelings out of the way
Reason should rule, because it's reliable
Emotions, however, are far too liable
To sway back and forth, causing only distress
So I allow Reason to be the mistress
Of my mind's household; decisions are made
By her, and my heart must obey.

At least, that was the plan.
But the more I try
And the harder I fight
To let reason have command
The more I find
Myself responding

Battle Music

Battle Music

I hear the wild martial music,

Strongly then it thrills my soul

And makes bright my eyes with joy.

It weaves a vivid story tale

Of heroes deeds in battles fought,

Of victory and glory.

Then a new strain sounding,

Sadly yet sweetly,

It fills my soul with patient waiting.

And its quiet notes resounding,

Tells me of a love unending,

Of a hope all hopes transcending.

Softer now and sadder still,

The music meets my ears.
