I open my mouth to speak but then close it again. I have nothing to say. How do I respond to whatever this guy is asking and saying? Maybe I will tell him the truth, which is that I don’t know who he is. But he probably knows that I do not know him or else he wouldn’t be spitting out such things trying to lie to me. I open my mouth again still not knowing what to say so my words surprised me as much as him.

 But I can't see into him and he turns away to face the open road.

            “Never ye mind. Ye'll tell in yer own time I'm sure. Why do ye think there ain't been a soul here to snatch us all to the queen's delightful company?” It is clear that this conversation is closed for now.

            “Probably because every time any soldiers get near us, they are sent running in terror from Annie and Danielle.” I and Isaias chuckle a bit and then I fall silently into thought.

As they begin to swirl in a slow dance, they fade, the room fades, and everyone fades until I am standing in a white, empty area. I see nothing as far as my eye reaches. I look about me, slightly disorientated from the extreme difference of this place and where I just was. “Well?” the voice who called itself my memory has returned. I am so confused. A memory should not be able to speak to me. It should be part of my mind. A book that I read-”I asked you what you thought” But no book can talk and sound that annoyed.

“What’s going on?” Danielle has to raise her voice above the whisper we’ve been keeping our voices at in order to be heard above the ever-increasing ruckus. From the din, few words are distinct. I believe I hear “catch him, catch him!” But I am unsure. Could I doubt Korin? He’s a good man. On the other hand, Danielle didn’t even know him. Scelerisal could have instructed him to kill Danielle on the road and drag me back. There wouldn't be shouts to catch him if he had betrayed us. He must have been found out. Or not. My head swims with these thoughts and others as I answer my sister.
