Song of a Star

Submitted by Libby on Fri, 12/01/2017 - 00:10

Star in the sky,
Lonely and blue,
Farwell to thy
Fading view.
So come tomorrow
Thy smile array,
And all the world’s sorrow
Be wiped far away!
Oh will that day
Come sunrise, or nay?
Oh star in the sky—
My star in the sky,
I bid thee goodbye,
Fair star yonder nigh,
Oh star in the sky—
My star in the sky.

Hush-A-Bye

I wanted to write a lullaby that I will someday be able to sing to my someday kids... I wanted to emphasize the roles of men and women, and also incorporate some of the things my parents and grandparents used to say/sing to us (the last 2 verses, they aren't original as some of you may know...). I wrote music for it, you can find it here: http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/9771c8ecb955951120ebf4dad6fec6c2a20001ae

Dreams Upon their Gossamer Wings

Submitted by Hannah W. on Wed, 11/26/2008 - 05:45

Dreams upon their gossamer wings
come drifing down upon us
white and sparkling
like falling snowflakes,
glittering
The form of some sprite
or elven-like figure
tiny feet barely touching the surface
the sill of the window
silent, they creep
their delicate features,
angled in expressions of kindliness,
mischief,
happiness,
caring
touch as light as baby's breath
or soft raindrops upon skin
or downy feathers
They hover, silent,
or dart playfully above
