Amazing Wonders of the Spider

Submitted by Libby on Thu, 11/09/2017 - 06:38

A little creature wanders by, is watched by gleaming eyes,
It stumbles on a sticky strand that brings its quick demise.
A flash of black, then ugly fangs are pointed at the prey
A spider full of cunning stealth, his meal he won’t delay.
And yet I wonder what would be if you and I would try
To see those creepy spiders through a different set of eyes.
If we looked for beauty and intelligent design,
Then maybe all those spiders we’d no longer undermine.

Embers

Cold stone floor
And withered leaves
The night was brooding
O’er the wind

Flames were weary
Mist all gathering
Caught in twilight
Breaths all thin

A web of dust
Laid on stone
The spider coughed
And crawled alone

The stars were crowns
Waiting while watching
The leaves swinging
In the night whispering

Blue the new moon
And bitter his song
Sung by the gulls
Or the owls on the bough

The Spiders' Day

The Gnomes are bouncing on the spider's web,
just like a trampoline,
the spider's don't appreciate this
but don't wish to be mean

so they just push a shove a bit
oh, no-- it's quite gentle, sure,
they just want to fix their traps
and the fly cunningly lure

but the gnomes are too loud next door,
they want to have a party,
the spiders rolled their eyes and said,
'We should'a moved away, see?'
