Precious Words

A lone figure sat hunched over a table in the corner of them dark room.

The only light was emited from a laptop in front of the person who was tapping away with the mindless intensity of a machine.

Occasionally, the endless tapping of the keys stopped, the Writer leaned forward, examining what was writted on the faintly glowing screen.

A few strokes of the mouse, a few words deleted, imperfection replaced for perfection, in the Writer's eyes.

For an endless eternity the only sound in the room once more was the tapping of the keys.

Once, the Writer rose from the table and crossed the room to one of the walls where a heavy blanket covered the sole Window, and pulling the blanket away from the frigid glass the Writer allowed a little grey light to enter the room as the Writer gazed out the Window.

The Writer remained there for an interminable amount of time as the grey light began to ever-so-slowly change to brilliant gold.

The Writer let the blanket fall over the Window once more, the room was again dark, lit only by the faint glow f the laptop's screen.

The Writer set to work once more with more energy, the slump of the shoulders all but gone, a fresh look in the eyes.

The Writer sat, hunched over a laptop in the corner of a dark room, writing away with the intensity of one inspired, feeling over each word carefully, like a Miser examining each coin in his hands, insuring that each one is solid gold.

I'm not actually sure if this is a poem or not, but it seems to be more poem-like than essay-like or fiction-like, so here it is, a little something I jotted down in a spare minute.

(hehehe, I'm getting quite a kick out of being able to put "15" under "what age are you?" :P )

Strangely enough I just got around to reading this. I love the way you talk about the whole miser/writer, gold/words thingy. Great comparison, I love comparisons.
