The Book of Cinderella

Chapter One

1. Now, in the reign of David, King of Israel, there was born unto Peleth, son of Gireal, Gimael, and unto Gimael was born Ahazael,

2. And unto Ahazael was born Nun,

3. And unto Nun was born Kish.

4. Now unto Kish was born a daughter of a fair countenance whose name was Leah, and after his wife had died, he remarried.

5. Now, in the fourth month, Kish took to wife Abigail, the daughter of Seth;

6. And Abigail had borne a daughter whose countenance was ugly, and her name was Myra.

7. Now, in their hearts, Abigail and Myra despised Leah for her beauty and charity.

8. And they sought diligently in their hearts to make her life a misery, and plotted how they might go about it.

9. Now Kish, the son of Nun gave up the ghost, in the fourth hour of the ninth month.

10. And Kish left all his fine herds of cattle and his fine riches of gold, and of precious jewells to Abigail.

11. And Abigail and Myra made Leah an maidservant.  And called her Cinderella, for, did she not linger among the ashes?

12. And Leah was kind hearted, and  never complained or despised them.

13. Now, in the tenth month, King David held a royal ball for all the young ladies of Israel. And Solomon was to take to wife a few fair young ladies.

14. Now Abigail and her household were given an invitation to the ball, and therefore Leah had labor tenfold.

I just have to say...I am really am enjoying this, Sarah! This looks really hard to write...was it?

Good Job!

Thank you, Lucy! :) Well, it is kind of hard to write in that sort of style sometimes because it's tricky knowing the right words to right for that era. But, It's not that hard for me if I read my bible enough :)

Yes, please post more! I like fairy tales a lot so I would be interested to see what you do with this. Particularly whether your Cinderella would have a fairy godmother, or how that would work.

Wow! James posted my second chapter fast!!! :) It's posted, so you can read it now :D

Very nice, Sarah. :)

This is extremely unique, original, and very creative. :)

I think it's a wonderful idea, and I look forward to your next chapter. ;)

Hello, Sarah,

Laura sent me the link to this and said she thought I'd like it. I do. Very much. Laura will tell you how much I like mimicking the KJV style of writing in my Narnia stories, but I never would have thought of doing Cinderella that way, nor of a lovely geneology, nor of making Solomon Prince Charming. I'm looking forward greatly to the next chapter (and did I hear a rumor of Snow White?).
