Scarlet frantically rushed around the battle field. "Gaelen!?" She cried into the darkness, no response. "Gaelen!?" She called again. It had been three hours, three lonely, awful hours. The sun was just barely under the horizon, filling the field with an eerie, blue light. "Gaelen!" Scarlet sobbed "Dear God, please don't let him be dead!" She whispered between tears. She looked around her feet. Hundreds of bodies lay everywhere and the blood flowed like a stream. Finally, she saw him, laying behind a bush, blood flowing from his side. "Gaelen?" She said in a coarse whisper, was it really him? "Scarlet?" He replied weakly "Gaelen!" Scarlet rushed over and knelt down by him. "I told you not to come here." he said faintly "They said--" "I know." "But--" "Shhh. I'm glad you're here." "What happened? You're hurt!" "Got shot." he said simply "I'll go get a doctor!" Gaelen grabbed her arm, causing himself a great deal of pain. She sat back down "I don't have that long, Scarlet." "No!" she cried, tears rolling down her face "No! The doctor can help you!" "Scarlet!" Gaelen grimaced at the pain "Don't leave me here." "Oh Gaelen!" Scarlet sobbed, her tears mixing with his blood "I'll never let you go!" She grasped his blood stained, mud covered hand "I'll never leave!" A single tear went down Gaelen's face. The sun was hovering above the horizon. "I'm going to be gone soon." He said dryly, with an almost indifferent air. "No!" Scarlet cried out "I won't let you! I need you!" "Please." he said sternly "I need you to be brave. Be brave for me." he coughed up more blood, staining his already red lips. Scarlet stared silently and swallowed back her tears. "I will." "Goodbye Scarlet." He said in a barely audible whisper "Be brave." Gaelen coughed up more blood and then his head fell back, lifeless. "Oh Gaelen..." She held his hand tighter and started weeping bitterly. The sun was up and shining. Illuminating everything, the battle field, the dead bodies, Gaelen's pale face and lifeless eyes. Cloaking everything in a gold shimmering glow, causing Scarlet to shimmer and sparkle like a poor, weeping, angel. The birds sang a melancholy melody and a warm breeze wrapped itself around the mourning girl in a loving embrace. She smiled. He was gone, the darkness was gone, and the feeling of peace and happiness still remained. "I will be brave Gaelen, just for you."

That was my favorite part, very well described!
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths
