In this one minute speech, I intend to present to you my many virtues...that I do not yet possess. At least not their full potential, but strive to in the near future. I invite you to listen, and I hope to amuse you with my future aspirations.
Patience: We all have those days where we sacrifice a fully toasted piece of bread, for a not-so toasted slice of bread. Otherwise known as, popping the toaster up before it’s done, so as to have your food ready quicker. But this is not the kind of patience I am talking about. The kind of patience I would like to possess is the kind defined by dictionary.reference.com “an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay.” Yes, that is the kind of patience I would like to learn to exercise. Perhaps, to start with, I will try to exercise patience while cooking my piece of toast.
The next virtue I’d like to exercise more often is Grace. I often think about this attribute, and how I need to put it into practice when dealing with all types of people. My dad likes to call people who make you exert a bit more grace, “grace growers”. Although I can get easily frustrated when trying to sort out people problems, I thank God for “grace growers” because how else would we try to grow grace?
Gentleness: One of the first impressions I give people upon meeting them, apparently, is that I am sweet tempered, lovely and gentle. In moderation, I genuinely do hope that I give that impression, but the case is that I am not always so. Around my siblings I find it especially hard to be that kind, caring older sister and Gentleness is always something I want to strive for.
There are a lot more virtues I’d also like to posses, but today there is only time for three, and, after all...we can’t change ourselves in a one minute speech. But, as a challenge, I want you to think of one virtue that you might be lacking a little and try to practice it as you go about your daily routine, in hope that whatever virtue it is, you may be able add it to a list titled “My Many Virtues”. Good luck!
Quick little speech done up for school. The topic was indeed meant to be about my many virtues, but I didn't feel like praising my current self, so I ended up with this in the space of fifteen minutes...thanks for reading!
Very nice, Madi. Those should
