I am amazed
that before I could love you,
you loved me,
that you purchased me,
a slave,
and rescued me from my master of sin,
and washed me whiter than snow,
put a ring on my finger,
a robe on my shoulders,
and called me
your Son,
heir to all the riches
of your kingdom.
I am so thankful
that my hatred of you,
was not enough
to hold back your love of me,
and though I murdered you,
that still you considered me
worth dying for, worth trading
your life for my death, that I might live
and sit with you in heavenly places,
and reign.
So many have yet to know of such love.
Dear savior, father, lover, maker, friend...thank you for loving me.
Thank you for blessing me with so many gifts. You are a giver of good gifts.
I'm grateful for my family who has
stuck by me all these years,
through better and worse.
I have so many memories of us together,
that will always be mine.
I'm glad for my friends,
of the past, and of today,
for the talks we've had,
the secrets we've shared,
and for the love I've been shown.
I'm happy to have roommates
to keep me company
so that I am never completely
alone.
So many people have no one in this world.
So I thank you, Lord, for giving me people I belong to.
I'm thankful for a roof over my head,
for a space to call my own,
for a bed, for a desk,
for a bathroom and a kitchen,
and a couch.
There are a lot of homeless people with no place to call home.
Thank you, Lord, that you chose to give me a home.
I'm glad I've got a truck,
to get me to work and back,
and even to go on roadtrips
if I want. To visit friends,
to move things for others,
and to just drive
if I feel like it.
Plenty of people will never drive a car in their life.
Thank you so much, Lord, for my truck.
I am blessed with a job,
a paycheck, income,
a way to provide for myself;
one that demands something of me,
and pushes me to do better every day.
So many people are without a job or a way of supporting themselves.
Thank you, Father, for giving me the means to pay my bills.
I have all of my limbs,
a healthy mind,
no pain,
no handicap,
no cancers,
and I can run, jump, swim, walk,
talk, ride a bike, shake someone's hand,
dance, and drive.
For some, just to walk again would be enough.
So I thank you, Lord, that you have carried me to this day strong and fit.
I get to go to college,
where I am asked:
"what would you like to study?"
by a nice man in a suit and tie,
and I get to tell him,
and our government not only allows this,
but foots the bill.
College is a privilege that not everyone is offered.
Thank you, Lord, that you have blessed me with the means to educate
myself.
Maker of every good thing,
who set the earth in motion
and called it very good
when Adam breathed his first—
I thank you,
for everything.

Excellent, Taylor. It is such a blessing to hear someone expressing such simple but deep and heartfelt gratitude for the little things we take for granted such a tragic percentage of the time. Thank you for writing and posting this.

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief
echoing everyone else
Yeah, what a celebration of goodness. It really adjusted my heart to a place of gratitude for my own life! I'm more filled-up than I realize... :) Thanks!

I liked this! I think my very favorite verse was the last one:
Maker of every good thing,
Who set the earth in motion
And Called it very good
When Adam breathed his first-
I thank you,
For everything.
Well done!
