“Susan, there are some things I want to talk to you about,” I said to her, a few hours after the scare. “Let’s take a walk.”
“Alright.”
I laughed comfortingly, noticing that she looked at me with slight uneasiness; probably trying to decide how to prepare herself for some news that she had no inkling what it was going to be about. “Oh, don’t worry; it isn’t anything serious enough to change anything drastically!”
She sighed with relief.
As we walked together, we studied the trees and sky.
“I could almost feel the spirits of the trees,” breathed Susan at one point.
Finally we sat down on a smooth flat stone and rested our hands on the soft, lush green grass.
I began, “Susan, remember when I first met all of you, I told you that I was from the 21st Century?”
“Yes,” she replied uncertainty.
“I was hoping to tell you all along, but I couldn’t find a chance to speak to you alone.” I stalled, trying to think of the best way to put it. “You see, I know more about your family and Narnia more than you will ever know. “I saw that she had no questions so I continued on, “These past few days, I have been noticing that my memory about our world has been slowly fading. That’s why I need to tell you what I’m going to tell you now.”
“Yes?” she prodded gently.
I took a breath. “Let me put it this way. In our world, there is this author named C.S. Lewis. He wrote this book by the name of, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”
“Oh, yes, I remember you saying that it was your favorite book. The title does sound sort of familiar, though.”
“You really do think it sounds familiar, do you? Well then, explain to me why.”
“I don’t know…” Susan hesitated. “I guess it sounds a little like the predicament we are in now. You know, we came here—“
I interrupted, “I don’t mean to be rude, but your guess is correct. C.S. Lewis wrote a book about Narnia!”
Gasp. “Whatever can you mean?”
“What I mean is that, I know what is going to happen next. I know how long we will stay here approximately, and I know a lot of other things! Isn’t that strange, Susan? Magic cannot be real, Susan. At least, I hope it is not real. I mean, magic is not real. Ever since I came here, I have been asking myself, “How did I get here? Why am I here?” Well, I know some of the answers to my questions, but still, I don’t have the ability to trust. I am from the 21ST Century, and you are from the 20th Century. There is no way that time machines are real. I suppose it is a sin to say ‘magic’ is not real in Narnia; because, it is real in Narnia. It would be as if I said that Jesus Christ didn’t die on the cross in our world!” I finished bitterly.
“Oh, Anne. I didn’t know you felt that way. I’m so sorry.” Susan sympathized
“No, please, don’t pity me. I know Aslan has his reasons…but still, I can’t understand; I don’t understand; and I suppose I never will understand.” A tear slipped down from my eye. I bit my lip.
Susan said nothing; instead, she wrapped her arms around me. I laid my head on her shoulder and sobbed until I had no more tears.
“I love Narnia, Susan. But not when it comes to this, it’s hard. I’m just so confused. “I said the last sentence in a whisper.
“Everything will work out fine, Anne. Albeit there might be times of trouble or confusion, in your case, hopefully, everything will come together.
‘Be careful for nothing;
But in everything by prayer
And supplication with
Thanksgiving let your requests
Be made known unto God,*’” she quoted. “I must admit, Anne, that I had trials of confusion too, when we had first come into this country. There were times I wished that we hadn’t come here. But now, I regret my thoughts.”
“Oh, Susan, I'm so glad to hear that you are a Christian. That--that verse...I've heard it before. Now I remember it more clearly. The Bible is so true. Thank you, Susan, for reminding me. I should just lean on God and put everything in his hands. But oh, it's hard!”

In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths
