Two Poems Partly Inspired by Les Mis: Revolution and Love

Revolution-
*******************************
a cause to die for
so they say
we must make tomorrow
different from today.
revolution stirs their blood
revolution gives cause
to those who fight for better days
to those who only lust to kill.
revolution gives men purpose
a higher good to attend
if they die, they die for a purpose
if they live, they have a reason to live
revolution changes the world
for better
or for worse.

Love-
*****************************

Hopelessly in love
with a girl
he's never met.
One glance was enough
to immobilize his thoughts.

Hopelessly in love
with a boy
she saw but once.
Knowing not his name
but knowing her heart.

Two lovers both apart
meet
for one brief thought
then separated.
One departs for places far
One leaves to face death
Each heart
torn apart.

In the end
love prevails
love protects
love guides
In the end
love prevails

So obviously, these are partly based on Les Mis, the second more than the first. With the first poem, I was thinking about revolution, and the good and bad that come from it, and whether it was more often good or bad, etc. and being very confused. So 'Revolution' was sort of my consensus. And as for 'Love', I kind of pulled out a story line and gave an interpretation. So yeah. A little background info, which I'm sure you were just pining for. ;)

'Revolution' is great. I love the rhythm.

Perfect. And I like how you've done all the wording in 'Love'. Nice job, as always. =)

Awesome!

I think I saw these before seeing Les Mis in theaters, but now I understand them. You did a great job with both. I agree with Maddi, that I love the wording in Revolution. :)

Now I'm going to try to undertake the book. Haha! Have you read it?

Great job.

Sorry for the edits! ahhhhh!

I haven't read Les Mis yet, but it's on my list. Mainly I'm waiting for summer break to start, when I'll actually have time to read a long book. School is squashing my pleasure reading! :(

Thanks for commenting!

I didn't see this until now.
Wow! I'm breath taken with the first Revolution. They were both good, but the Revolution just really struck me more.
Loved it! LOL! Maddi and Homey stole the lines that I like the most ;) LOL! So... I'll just say Ditto to them.
Great job!
