First Snowfall

Ugggggggghhhhhh! I wake up to the sound of my radio-alarm clock. The song that plays reminds me of the comforting dream I had the night before. Still lying on my back I look out my window. It has been raining all night. I see the streaks of the rain. It looks very pretty. But what is that blob to the side? It could be a leaf. I listen to the next song and realize that the blob is not a leaf. It is a snowflake. I knew that there was a possibility for a mix of snow and rain tonight. The snow has probably been washed away but I look out my streaked window anyway. I am surprised to find that the ground and the tree tops are covered in a thin blanket of white. I am so happy. I do my happy dance in my room and say a quick prayer of thanks to God. Then I rush downstairs. I need to be a part of the first snowfall. I head for the mudroom and search for my boots. Thankfully they still fit after two years of faithful service. My down coat is on its hook. My hat and mittens are snuggled next to each other on the shelf. I smile as I realize that my snowflake pajama pants match my gear. I head through the garage and out the door. The air is colder than what I remember. However, I greet it gladly. My dear friend has returned. The driveway is covered with slushy snow. Even though I was hoping for powder I don’t care. Snow is snow. I stand there for a few minutes enjoying the snow falling on my face, the snowflakes clinging to my golden hair. I never want to leave this moment. I smile as I go back inside to get ready for the day. Snow has finally fallen. Over the day, the snow slowly melted. My heart grew sad. But I smile at the memory and will celebrate once more when the soft angels come again to comfort the aching souls of earth

This was my favorite part:
"I stand there for a few minutes
enjoying the snow falling
on my face, the snowflakes
clinging to my golden hair.
I never want to leave this moment."

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths
