In A Fairytale

I wandered through a fairy-land,
Covered in misty grey.
Time stood still, yet time flowed on
As I went a dreamy way.

Fire rose high in shimmering points,
Contending with the stars.
Smoke curled up in shaky wisps
And trumpets sounded from afar.

Hoofbeats echoed, and flapping wings,
Creatures of old these noises made:
Beasts untamed and things unknown
In colorful garb arrayed.

Gliding past in glittering numbers
Were folk of human form.
Wings of silver and violet eyes,
Thoughtful, and yet forlorn.
