Half Blood Part X--Secrets Unveiled

Submitted by Heather on Fri, 11/06/2009 - 03:08

Jevran downed a glass of water in one gulp and closed his eyes. The councilmemebers were giving him a headache. They sounded like so many gossiping scullery maids. Comments and reflections on Varians' like were tossed back and forth, with the general consensus being, "Well, if he hadn't been half-Highlander, he would've made something of himself."

Jevran brought his fist down on the table so hard that it stung. The counselors flinched and glowered at him.

"Yes, sir?" Danilos asked.

I am planning to participate in NaNoWriMo[National Novel Writing Month], an attempt to write a 50,000 word story during November. But I can't decide which story to write. I'd appriciate any opinions or advice, especially since I should decide by November 1st, less than two weeks away.

A Fantasy Dream

Submitted by Bernadette on Tue, 10/06/2009 - 13:50

A fantasy dream of forests deep

With leaves of abundant green

And sparkling rays of morning sun

Where fairies are dancing bright

Girded some with swords

While others with stars and flowers

On paths of moonbeams blue

And golden roads abide

And flitting snowflakes and summer rain

All dance about with harpers and songs

And the branches are winding

Tangled and smooth

Little trees and trees which are tall

A fantasy dream of midnight sky

Not Called To Be A King

Submitted by Heather on Mon, 10/05/2009 - 17:02

**This is based off a character, Jakon, in the book I recently finished, Roliwyn. In the book Jakon has to deal with his kingdom being usurped by an assassin. In order to defeat the assassin, Jakon has to gather a band of outlaws who will only fight if he promises not to fight for his kingship, but for the good of the kingdom.

Snowe White and the Seven Midgits, The Begining

"I’m sorry" Said the Healer sadly, "But I’m afraid that you’ll never have children." The couple sadly walked away, the Queen crying bitterly.

Queen Rya was embroidering by a window that Winter and her finger was pricked by the needle, "Ouch" she thought, as she sucked on her poor finger. But the as blood dripped on the snow she prayed dearly for a daughter with lips as red as blood, hair as black as ebony and skin white as snow.

And There Were Three: Chapter Eighteen

"Settle down, Elinor.  My poor head can hardly think with all your gibbering."

Eltar and Elinor were spending a few quiet hours in their room, waiting for the pouring rain to cease; rather, Eltar was trying to do so, and Elinor was making it impossible.  Since Bettle had sent messengers to Emperor Armir of the Elves, her tongue would not stop clacking, chattering about what elves were like, and what they wear, and what their manners are, and what they eat.  A magpie would soon grow weary of her talk, to her brother's mind.

Arctic Explorer

Submitted by Clare Marie on Fri, 09/11/2009 - 02:46

Someday, mother, I'll go North

I'll get me a pair

Of snowshoes

And skis

And that's the last

You'll see of me

I'll tell you what I'll do

When I get there

('Course I'll get there)

Do you think I'll run

Under that chilly

Midnight Sun?

Or maybe I'll just

Dig a tunnel

To Timbuktu

Or build an icy igloo

Maybe I'll find me

An Eskimo baby

Or a sled dog team

Perhaps I'll explore

And discover

A Northwest Pole

And be a Santa Claus
