More Than I Can Imagine

“More Than I Can Imagine”

I love the one who has always existed.

The one who I can always rely upon.

The one who never breaks a promise.

The one who I know, no matter what I do,

He will always love me more than I can imagine.

I doubted, but now I know

That makes you stronger.

In this life, I wonder what my prupose is.

But as I look in the sky, my worries fade

And I know he there for me.

When fear swirles around me,

Truth: Knowledge vs. Certainty

Submitted by James on Wed, 10/07/2009 - 19:14

There is a profound difference between knowledge and certainty.  If one is certain that a particular proposition is true, he is fully confident that it is true; yet theoretically he could be right, or wrong.  If he is right, then he knows that it is true; his certainty is knowledge.  If he is wrong, then he mistakes that it is true; his certainty is a mistake.

Truth: It's Knowable

In spite of the far-reaching influence of relativism (that is, the idea that there is no absolute truth), most people are not all-out relativists. My previous essays on truth should demonstrate why. To abandon the absoluteness of truth is to abandon all logic and reason, and even one’s own observation and thinking processes. And most people simply cannot bring themselves to jump off the edge of reason into the seas of insanity. Truth’s absoluteness is at least as necessary as existence itself.

The Path

Do you see that Path? The one with shadows across certain portions and an occassional ray of the sun lighting its flagstones? The one with thorns and roses lining it? The one where tempests howl and calm, summer breezes blow? The one where predator and victim walk side-by-side? Where Pretenders and Truthtellers are friends? That Path is Life; it is the Path which I traverse.

Aslan's Side

In The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis, Puddleglum the Marshwiggle makes an interesting statement.

The Lady of the Green Kirtle was trying to convince Puddleglum that there was no Narnia, no Aslan...telling him there was nothing worth being great or good for. She told him he ought to forget it all and just...sleep. She tells Puddleglum and his friends they have only dreamed and made up stories about Narnia and Aslan. Soon...they come to believe her.

The Civil War

The compromises were thought in the south to be quite beneficial. Their beliefs were accomplished in the compromises. They thought that abolitionists in the north were just a group that wanted to tear away the freedom of possessing slaves and that the abolitionists were much to “excited” and needed to be quiet and let the compromises flow as need be. Anyways, the thought of war was simply horrifying. They preferred to live in a “watchful peace” as Tolkien wrote in the Lord of the Rings, and sit in a morally wrong life.

Truth

One day, eight men came to a house in which there were many wonders. As they were being shown around, they came to a door with one word upon it: Truth.

Let us go inside, they said, for we all wish to know what this Truth may be.

The Problem

Submitted by AmandaLC on Fri, 10/17/2008 - 18:04

The Problem is the Lie
The Lie tells the Head it's in charge
The Head believes the Lie
The Lie is trapping the Heart
The Heart cries for the Truth
The Truth screams to the Body
The Body can sometimes break free from the Head
The Head regrets when the Body listens to the Truth
The Heart rejoices for it has had a Moment
The Moment becomes multiple
The Truth is coming out, its beating the Lie
The Heart is breaking free
The Heart is in charge
The Problem is solved, for now
