Pure Joy

Submitted by Hannah W. on Fri, 11/21/2008 - 22:55

Pure joy,
so good, so wonderful
just the memory makes my heart soar
I can still feel the wind
as cold as the snow
and the ice all around us
as it rushed through my hair
as I spun around, twirling,
my mind spinning, whirling
reveling in the new revelation
And the yellow light, spilling
from the windows and doors
and the darkness that glittered
with crystal stars up above
Just the sound of laughter,
and the sight of a smile
makes my soul lift even higher
Running, and spinning,

Naien ~ part of chapter one

Submitted by Melissa on Mon, 04/28/2008 - 23:36
The evening was grey and misty. Melenyáriel the naien trotted swiftly through the trees, her thick, tortoiseshell fur fluffed against the cold. This was the coldest winter she had yet seen. Light snow was falling, collecting in a thin layer on the mossy ground and melting in minute drops on her fur. She stopped for a moment, tilting back her head to peer at the sky where it showed between the trees, and spotted a bird, its wings dark against the fading light. It might have been one of the Elenalië, but there was no way of telling.

Sliding Down the Mountain

Well, since I have just joined apricotpie, I don't have anything new to post. So, I am just going to post the first poem that I ever wrote. Hope you'll like it!

Sliding Down the Mountain

When I climb a big
Hill, I am a mountain climber
So high on the top. Just before I
Slide down, I grip my sled and
Off I go as fast as a flash!

On the way down, I am a
Silver bird skimming o'er
Smooth snow.

My flight must end and I
Dig my feet into the snow.
A fine spray of
Sparkling flakes,
Dusts me from head to toe.

The Snow Queen

Submitted by Megan on Tue, 01/01/2008 - 00:20

Incased in snow,
No one knows,
How she got there,
Where she will go,
Born into ice,
Nothing will sufice,
To sooth her pain,
There is no such device,
Nothing can set her free,
For you see,
Her love for the world,
For you and me,
Must remain hidden,
Nothing will sufice,
But to be incased in snow,
and hidden in ice.

Snow Wonder

Submitted by Sarah on Sat, 12/29/2007 - 03:16

I roll over.
The glaring red
numbers of my
clock say 12:00am.
I cannot sleep.
Padding silently to
the door, I pull it open.
It is snowing.
Large flakes of snow drift
lazily down from the sky.
One inch already lies on the ground.
Everything seems hushed-quiet.
An ethereal light glows faintly.
The light of the moon amplified by
the thin clouds, and the white snow.
I smile in wonder and joy.
Pulling on a pair of boots quickly,
I run out into the snow, turning
slowly in circles;

Jack Frost

Submitted by Edith on Wed, 06/27/2007 - 03:24

Hey, hey, hey, Jack Frost! I see ye comin’ round the bend
With your sleigh of ice and white powder to send
With a bite of the wind and a kiss of the breeze
Hey, here comes Jack Frost! Can you not see?
He’s the one who comes each year, his eyes of creamy blue
His clothing is that of traveling frost, with white crystal shoes.
