Tempest

Submitted by Bernadette on Fri, 07/16/2010 - 00:11

Dear child, hearken now

Thy thoughts hear wilts

Thou forget

The tempest thou bore

In thy song ever more

Now sing thyself asleep

With no wind or bird

To answer thy cry

Now search thee through the night

Till dismal bongs awaken thou slumber

I’ll sing thee a song

A song of the bread maker

And the song of the weaver

The song of the sailor

And the song of a tea maker

Dream thyself asleep

But hark! the words of a song

Someday

Someday is one day I wish for Someday is the day of my dreams Someday is one day away, so they say So close, but so far still it seems Someday the day that I pray for Someday, what day will it be? Someday, the one day I need to be okay Someday come one day to me

Dream Dust

Submitted by paperpoet on Sun, 06/13/2010 - 03:57

Goodnight little ones
Lay down in your beds
We’ll sprinkle some dream dust
Under your heads
Shake it over your pillows
And under your cover
Sink into sleep
A new world to discover
While the moon shines
Sleep and dream on
Wait till the dream dust
Wears off at dawn

Tea-Strings

Submitted by Hannah W. on Wed, 05/26/2010 - 18:27

tea-strings all tied up
on my fingertips, leading somewhere
airplanes all high up
above the runway strips, heading somewhere
I told you it doesn't have to be this way
it was just a feeling

tea-string all tied up
I can't remember
what to remember

airplanes all high up
against the palm backdrop;
should I remember?

tea-strings now tether us
by our fingertips, knit us together
airplanes won't take us
we're stuck on runway strips, knit tight together

The Chimeras of Sleep

Submitted by Clare Marie on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 04:26

**These are two pieces of writing, each based on two different dreams I've had recently, and alas, can remember only hazily.  Most of what is written was what I can remember, but I added some (mostly necessary) details and of course tried tying it together so it made some sense.  The first one I think I'll just leave it as it is; but the second one...I don't know, do you think it could lead to a story?**
