Sorrow

Narcissa's Julian (draft the second)

Submitted by Anna on Mon, 10/26/2009 - 20:22

They have offered me my life for my love.
They will kill us all- unless we surrender Julian.
He is the chosen one; I see that now. It makes sense suddenly, because he was always more than what he seemed.
How could anyone do this to him? And how can he not? He is too noble to let them kill us all. When they hand him over, he will go.
Lovely Julian!
They have offered our lives for my love.

All listen when he speaks. My heart used to thrill, but now it throbs. Soon he might speak no more.

Rest in Peace

Submitted by Clare Marie on Sat, 10/24/2009 - 00:59

Rest in peace, little one

Rest in peace

Your troubles are over, little one

Rest in peace

You looked death in the face

Little one

And did not flinch

Pain

Oh, the pain you endured

All because of your love,

Little one

Be not afraid

They talk of justice, little one

They talk of peace

But who, little one, noticed

When you suffered?

Pray, little one

You are safe now

Waiting

Submitted by airlia on Sat, 09/12/2009 - 23:39

Life is always waiting,
Waiting, waiting,
Waiting for someone to claim it,
Waiting, waiting,
Would you be so selfish,
Waiting, waiting,
As to take away life from it?
Waiting, waiting,
To steal a life,
Waiting, waiting,
From one who’s never lived?
Waiting, waiting,
This can’t be right,
Waiting, waiting,
Yet people say it is.
They took that life,
The one in waiting,
Now life must search for

Sandcastles

Left, with bruised heart. Beating a steady weary beat, behind the cover of fear. Afraid to love. Afraid to be loved. Everything just seems...like betrayal. Everything ends, just as the heart begins to open; cautiously, quietly, and then it cringes, because it's gone.

My Dance With Love

Submitted by Ian on Wed, 05/06/2009 - 05:06

Did I read the stories wrong
Were all the old songs untrue
The tapestries woven, long and grand
Told endings that I thought would be
I didn't think that I would stumble
Or get lost within my feelings

Yet Love, dressed in her gown of red and white
Danced before my eyes, transfixing my gaze
Passion pushed me near her,
I took her hand in mine,
With her I danced for hours as the stars shined
Joy sweeping through me like a warm summer's breeze,
Nothing as sweet as when I kissed her soft cheek

At the Grey Havens

Submitted by Julie on Sat, 03/14/2009 - 19:23

The other day, I watched the ending of Return of the King for at least the third time. The movie carried me from the depths of despair to the heights of joy; from the struggle in Mount Doom to the coronation and wedding of Aragorn. But the final scene at the Grey Havens struck me as the most poignant part of the whole trilogy.
The final pages in the book contain this moving conversation between Sam and Frodo:

Song of the Things that I Always Will Be

Submitted by Hannah W. on Thu, 01/15/2009 - 04:08

Breathless darkness,
sparks in the air
Scattering stars
wind in my hair

Tumbling through fields,
light touch of feathers
Song of the earth
echoes forever

Heartbeat and dirt,
trees sway in the night
Shadows and flame
glowing orange, bright

Smell of the forest
cool air on my cheeks,
running, heart soaring
no words do I speak

Orion the Brave,
with his arrows and bow
he hunts in the sky
and the way he does show
