Autumn

Submitted by Brianna on Thu, 10/18/2007 - 18:54

The leaves turned to a deep maroon
and the breeze caught a chill
and the sky was stained with a faded grey
as the autumn came, on it's way

The air held a smoky smell
as the colorful leaves twirling, fell
and everything under the weary sun
skipped gaily for autumn fun

Death is not a thing of beauty

Submitted by Christa on Thu, 10/18/2007 - 14:29

No, I must disagree
Death is not a thing of beauty
Of joy in afterlife
Death is not a thing of poetry
Of romantic notions of love
Left behind

For those who are yet alive
Death hits you like a betraying punch
Like a slip on the stairs
At the bottom of which
You look up unpleasantly surprised
And hurt
You shake yourself off
And tell yourself it’s nothing
But you’re black and blue
And in pain

(Wrote this after reading Ky's post about dancing. Unedited so it's probably got a bunch of mistakes but oh well. Just some thoughts and refelctions on my part.)

I Do

Submitted by filipinopapi808 on Tue, 10/16/2007 - 21:18

Patiently I wait for you
To find me sitting here
Our future sealed forever
No one will ever compare
Like the dawn you’ve come to chase away
The mistakes of yesterday
With you, with you, with you
I’ll say I do

From the moment of my birth
To the last word that I’ll say
I have and will always love you
No matter how the day may change
Let the sun shine and the rain pour
I know it will be okay
With you by my side forever
I choose this day to say I do

Different Now

Submitted by filipinopapi808 on Tue, 10/16/2007 - 21:15

I truly miss you
And I miss how it used to be
But I've moved on
This stone has turned
I've chosen a different life now

Try to understand this choice is mine
I love you still and hope you'll shine
But don't hold me down or pull me back
This stone has turned
I've chosen a different life now

Dynamite!

Submitted by Ethan on Tue, 10/16/2007 - 20:58

Extraordinarily good at fishing, Sam aroused the suspicions of the local warden. Carelessly, the warden asked Sam if he could accompany him to see where Sam fished since he always came in with his limit. Sam agreed, and they cruised away from the dock in Sam’s tin boat. Slowing down in the middle of the lake, Sam lit a stick of dynamite, tossed it into the water, and scooped up the stunned fish. Enraged, the warden condemned Sam and told him he just broke the law.

Are You Looking or Seeing

Are You Looking or Seeing

Sometimes we need to feel valued and loved but

often times we are unoticed and snubbed

however when sommeone looks and sees your pain

and dosn't overlook you because of a lack of

fame you feel loved and needed with a simple

hug or touch people don't realize it means so

much so are you looking or are you seeing

someone elses true deep down feelings.

For those wondering where this poem has gone, it is under consideration for publication in Rooted Living magazine until March 2011. I'll update this when I've received the final word.
