Almond Blossom

I wait like an almond blossom
wavering in the breeze
I watch like the almond blossom
as people pass beneath

I drift like the almond blossom
among the grey-barked trees
I may only watch and listen
but I may never speak

I want to correct, I want to be
but instead where the wind blows
the branch will lean
I wish to sing but no one knows

catch me, the almond blossom, falling

A thousand rains may come and go
a thousand storms may shake me
a thousand whispers will I know
But still I can say nothing

I twirl like the almond blossom
I wish to be called lovely
but unless I am not an almond blossom
they will surely never love me

Catch me, the almond blossom, falling

I fall away from branch and tree
I sail along the wind
I find that I am finally free
and beneath me earth shall spin

As I soar below the swirling sky
the people pause to watch me
oh how shining are your eyes!
but it's too late to stop me

you cannot catch an almond blossom if it isn't
falling...

You continually turn out graceful, beautiful poetry, Hannah. How do you do it? I love the peace and cadence of this poem. Someday I hope to be sitting in a hammock with a book of your poetry in my hand. :0)

Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!
