My brother Sean wrote this. I had no idea he could write, but apparently he can, and well. The title is his too. Here it is, unedited except for a typo.

Tonight, after working a 14 hour day, and not being that tired, I prepared for a short journey home. Fog had been slowly creeping over the buildings for the past few hours, and really set in around midnight. The sounds from the city had ceased to exist and it was like I was out on a mountaintop of snow, hearing nothing but silence. An eerie silence, the kind that makes you want to stand there and take it in, breath by breath. The blistering cold had already caused my nose to cry out for warmth, begging for anything to protect itself from its exposed surface. My hands took pride in their gloved world, as if mocking the less fortunate nostrils. As I pedaled home, the fog began to blanket me, as if attempting to suffocate my very being. However, it eventually accepted my existence and instead, floated on by like a leaf in the wind. The fog was so dense. It wanted nothing more than to keep me where I was, stretching itself to prevent my passing through. The wind was silent, but yet I could feel it brushing my skin. Going up the mountainous hill, I felt ability to breathe increase in difficulty. I desperately anticipated reaching the top, and looking down on the path I had taken. Pushing myself, I finally completed the hill that I had rode up so many times before. I gazed back, only to see a think blanket of air that couldn't be penetrated with my own eyesight. It was like looking into the night and seeing nothing. The silence remained, yet I wanted it to stay. An unparalleled sense of peace rushed over me and I felt something I had never felt before. I pictured myself laying in the snow, looking up at the stars and in that moment, never wanting it to pass. I recalled growing up and making snowmen and snow angels, it's weird how that silence can bring peace to even a troubled mind such as mine. But silence is something that everyone needs once in awhile, even to those who hate it. I continued on home, traveling through the parking lots full of giant trees, motionless, but staring me down as I crept past them. They were watching me, like I was the only one left in the world. The air whistled at me, trying to stir fear into my soul. Yet, the cold and quiet air only brought order to a chaotic environment. Nothing was going to scare me away, not in these moments, not ever. It's amazing to look into fog, and to know there's something on the other side, but all you can see is it's existence, staring back at you. Right before my trek came to the finale, a truck rushed by like a raindrop falling into a pond, sending ripples of sound in every direction. Shortly after the calm and silent air resumed, like nothing changed. It was in this instance, that I truly felt at peace.
The ending was awesome!!
