The Vessels That Sail Away

A kaleidoscope of colours erupted like fireworks behind my eyelids,
alighting the tiny veins like snaking rivers seen from a great height,
along which vessels sail away with the wind towards the horizon’s line,
leaving nothing but their wake behind as stars blossom like flowers in the sky.
Passing over the curve of some other world to another one just beyond,
where even the air is sweet like the heady fragrance of lilacs in the spring
and the sand and snow converge and meet upon the glowing shores;
there we met again after ten years following the currents of forgotten streams.
I noticed a lack of lustre in your eyes even as they reflected the azure of the heavens,
and thought perhaps long years alone on the river had worn upon you,
while upon me it was invigorating, even now my veins still course with water,
but the snaking rivers aren’t for everyone, this I had to remind myself anew.
You toiled on regardless, to carry on the journey we started long ago,
before our paths separated on that fated day when the stream divided.
Still I think you wonder if somehow along this endless way someone did us wrong,
and that we should have stayed ashore on solid ground than come along.

This was intriguing. The words you used were very descriptive and lyrical. I almost would like to see it expanded into a novel/ short story.

This was very interesting, indeed. While I'm not sure how it would work if expanded into a story as Erin suggested, I do agree that it begins an intriguing path for the imagination to follow.

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

You have a talent for this kind of... thing. I don't have the words to describe your words, but I love them.
