Dear God,
You say you hold everyone’s tears in Your hand. Do You really? Isn’t Your hand getting kind of full by now? I mean, I know it’s probably a big hand, but still, there’s a lot of people in the world.
Aren’t You getting tired of watching out for me? Whenever I trip, I expect to crush my face on the pavement. Pavement kind of sucks sometimes. But You always catch me right before I hit it. One time, I could have sworn I hit it. But it turned out it was just a pillow. That must have been You. I don’t usually find pillows on the roads around here.
Why do You let me have bad dreams? That’s something I don’t get. Some of them are from things I’ve been thinking about or things I’ve seen, but some definitely don’t come from me. I’m not saying they come from You, because I don’t believe they do. I’m just wondering if maybe You could stop them. Of course, it’s true that I don’t have them every night like I used to. So thank You for that.
Have You ever made anyone with naturally blue hair? Because my friend knows someone who only wants to marry someone with naturally blue hair, and I was just wondering if there was somebody out there for her. Also, I’d kind of like to know that there was a hair color like that. I bet he would be the only person in the world with it.
Will there be tornados in Heaven? Maybe You didn’t really think about including them (although You do think of everything), but it would be cool if we could have them just once in a while.
Are there really blue cherries? If so, would You mind letting me eat a couple?
You probably don’t need to eat, but what’s Your favorite food?
Can You tell me how forever works someday? Like, maybe in the form of a mathematical formula? That might be kind of interesting.
Will the rest of the universe stay around after the Earth dies? I’ve always wanted to see Neptune. I don’t believe it’s half as inhabitable as everybody says. While we’re on the subject of the universe, are we really the ONLY PLANET IN ALL OF SPACE that contains humans? It makes me feel like an endangered species. And there’s so many other worlds out there, how can there not be anything?
Could You have part of Heaven kind of like Middle-Earth, complete with elves and adventure and all that? And also, ever since I read The Silver Chair, I’ve wanted to eat rubies. I think they’d be like pomegranate seeds, only larger and without the little hard white part in the middle.
Do the bad guys really burn in Hell forever, or are You planning to give them a break once in a while?
Will we still be married in Heaven? What about the people who married more than once? Do they walk around with two or more spouses?
After You’re done with Earth, are you going to do the whole thing over again? Like, are You going to create a new planet, populate it, and do this all over again? Will the people look like us or different?
Why on earth did you make mosquitoes? I think that You made spiders to eat the mosquitoes. Did You make mosquitoes purely to feed the spiders? Because I think the spiders might have enough food already.
If there’s a really a wardrobe that will take me to another world, could You show me where it is?
Who in the world is most like me?
Statistically speaking and assuming nothing good or bad has been done yet, what are the chances of true happiness for a single person?
Is there any animal that is soft, cuddly, and doesn’t make any messes? I’d like one of those, please.
Would You really mind so much if I don’t name my kids Bible names? I don’t really like any of them that I can think of.
Do You ever laugh because You think I’m funny?
What sorts of flowers do they have in Heaven? Sweet peas? I love sweet peas.
For those of us who don’t believe in fate, is there any equivalent to “tempting fate” with You? If there is, I really don’t want to mess with it.
What’s my mansion going to look like?
Do our wants ever have anything to do with what You give us, or is it just that we accidentally want something that was best for us?
Those are all of the questions that I can think of for now. I know I have more, but I’ll ask them later, or in private.
With love, Bridget

Btw, the part about hitting the pavement was theoretical. So was the part about the pillows.

Fascinating. I've had many of these questions myself, especially those about forever, whether God gets tired of looking out after me, wants, and marriage in heaven (I think Jesus actually answered that in one of the gospels...not sure which one). And I have many more of my own...
This was really sweet, if
This was really sweet, if that makes sense. Kind of like a small child asking her mom a whole lot of questions that she can't answer. I love it :)

A small child... yes, I frequently get compared to that. :-) Thanks, guys.

This was sweet...and funny...and sad...and happy...
I loved this essay! It make me smile and laugh...and you asked some of the questions I would've, too! :)
Just mail this and you're good to go!! ;)

That sounds perfect! I could totally go for that! And then you follow it up with something like:
Statistically speaking and assuming nothing good or bad has been done yet, what are the chances of true happiness for a single person?

Homeschool Girl: I don't think I have to mail it. I bet God reads ApricotPie.
Kestrel: Which part sounds perfect: the pomegranates or the Middle Earth?
Thanks girls!

Reply to Kassady
Just wondering why you believe that about hell

Kassady, hon--you can't have
Kassady, hon--you can't have a just and perfect God without His punishment of sin. That, according to the Bible, is hell. I know there are a lot of people who disagree, but you can't take the parts of the Bible you like and leave the rest. Sadly, hell is a very real place--Jesus said so.
Not wanting to start a debate, just thought I'd mention.

I was just posting what I thought, "To each, Their Own" is my moto! Though others might disagree, "To each, Their own" even on it being my moto! LOL! (sorry that was bad grammer wasn't it?)
I would tell you a lot more on the matter of "Why" I posted that, and think that, but it might offend people, and I rather still be friends with all you great writter's ;) !

I don't think it would offend us, as long as it was stated honestly and without inflammatory language. We're a fairly self-controlled group here.

I must say...
I agree with Kassady! No offense to anyone who does believe in such. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. There's no one way to think of or regard ANYTHING. Everything is always open to interpretation. To repremand Kassady for her beliefs: well, would you like people to do so of yours?
Not wanting to start an argument, so I'll leave it at that. Great essay, Bridgette, and that's all that matters at the moment.
Just one comment
Homeschool Girl, you say ""There's no one way to think of or regard ANYTHING. Everything is always open to interpretation."
I have just one question for you: Does that include your statement? Becaues if EVERYTHING is open to interpretation, I could interpret your statement as being correct or incorrect.

Of course :)
Like I said, anything is open to interpreatation. So you could say my statement is incorrect or correct. It may be right for one person, wrong for another.
Sorry Bridgette, for crowding up your comments with posts unrelated to your essay. I won't comment regarding this subject anymore! There is certainly no reason for us to get into arguments. I would much rather just leave it at this, if you all will! :)
Thanks! Keep up the great writing, you all.
