Robin Hood and John the Prince
Agreed to have a meeting
All seemed to be going well, since
They met with bowing greeting
"Rob," said John, "if we were wise,
Which is a small requirement,
We could pool each day to work
And help save the envirement.
"And if we were the wiser still,
We'd merge our two great forces.
I for rich, and you for poor,
And lawyers for the horses.
"You can steal, and I can tax,
And promise equal wealth,
And promises could flow like rain,
About a global health."
"That sounds well," said Robin Hood,
"But we'll need more support.
For there are some we'll need to pay
To gag the truthful sort."
"I've thought of that," said clever John.
"A group who work for 'good',
Have pledged their full support to me,
Which flows from Acorn Wood."
"This is good, but think you not
That we shall need a friar?
For there are some the better fooled,
By a 'religious', ranting lier.
"Here I can provide the help
And by the best of luck,
I know a genius man of cloth,
A man, one friar Tuck."
"Very good," returned the Prince,
"And soon they'll sing our praise,
Even though you steal their gold,
And I, their taxes raise."
"Let's drink to it, " said Mr. Hood
"And all opposers ban,
And if a one should tell us no,
We'll answer, 'yes we can!'"

Wow! That was incredibly funny. Oh the irony! I was trying to think of something else to say, but I came up blank. I think my first words said it...wow!

This would be hilarious - and I did laugh a good bit - if it wasn't such a good parody of something so deadly serious. Regardless, it WAS a good parody, and it made me laugh. Well done!

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!
This is one of the best poems
This is one of the best poems on this site! Wonderful!
Now that is a work of art! Did it take you a long time to write this?

Thanks everyone. True, I
Thanks everyone. True, I probably shouldn't make fun of such things, but otherwise I think it might have been a little melodramatic. Also, it's better to laugh than cry.
Yeah. I think it's fine.
Yeah. Maybe it shouldn't be as funny as it is. But I can't help but laugh. I like what Kendra said. Really though this is so well written I would have though a pro wrote it.
I don't really don't know all about what's in my heath care bill, but it must be good for our country! - Me, doing my Obama impersonation.

This was really good, Brit! Hilarious. I wasn't expecting that... :)

Wow...
Very amazing political satire--I bet you could easily publish this somewhere!! :0) The attitude behind it was very serious, but it still made me laugh because of the fresh way of looking at things and how you fit the Robin Hood legend into such a modern topic. Well done!
(I might send this link to a couple of friends...) :0)

Shrinking Violet?
Why didn't you tell me you had written this brilliant poem?! I didn't even see it, just found it by mistake today- false modesty does not become you! Too bad you'd be arrested and sent to the gulag if you published it...
That's really funny. I like
That's really funny. I like the way you write!
Brill, as they say
This was very clever! I love the ryme and rhythm, and the ending is perfect!!!! It made me chuckle darkly. (I would say it made me laugh, but it is so true that it's almost kind of a bummer too...) I mean, the Acorn Wood and everything.... absolutely brilliant!!!
