What might have been

There comes a time I look at what might have been
Really, mostly, I am happy it’s not me
Loves gone into the ocean breeze
Carried out to sea
A message in the bottle never opened
Wistful and a little lonely

Am I ready for this leap? This change of pace
In my heart I know not yet
But when I see the pictures I think
Of who I am and what might have been
And I feel a little lonely and out of place

Sternly I do an about face
My direction is ever forward, wind at my back
I sail on, content enough
Is not life a race?

I forget to enjoy the journey
As I get slightly sick at sea

Sorry I've been absent from AP for awhile - I couldn't log on. I feel bad coming back with this one, which I wrote a few months ago when I was a little melancholy. Something more cheerful coming right up! :)

Ahhh....I was wondering where you'd gone! Nice job on this :)

It's sad, and then at the end it's kind of funny. Love it!
