My Gloomy Day

All Coke cans were empty
As I shuffled down the hall.
There were cobwebs on the ceiling,
And gray dust was on the wall.

The sun was much too sunny.
The snow was all but melted.
There was just enough for snowballs,
And with them I was pelted.

My algebra wasn't finished.
The dishes were not done.
Then low gray clouds took over,
And I couldn't see the sun.

That's how I slowly realized
Those clouds were just as bad
As sunshine that was sunny
And snow that couldn't be had.

The cake I made had fallen.
The frosting turned out gritty.
I sat down on the couch,
Full of my self-pity.

My feet were hurt and sore.
The lights, it seemed, were dim.
My head was full of headaches.
My glass had dirt on its rim.

I looked at my surroundings
And sighed in my dismay.
I fell back upon the couch.
Today was a gloomy day.

Sounds like one of my gloomy days. Especially the lines "My algebra wasn't finished." and "The cake I made had fallen. The frosting turned out gritty." Just like me! Very good poem;)

Exactly.

You have captured gloominess at its fullest.
