It knows where to guide your fingers
when you play without the notes
it draws them toward the keys
and they sound the way you feel
I think it's true it knows.
How quietly it crouches there
makes me think it is a tame bear
but I know it's wild creature,
even though it sings for me.
Its voice is full, and deep, and true
and unfamiliar to few
and even if you know it not
it comes to brush against your heart
And I wonder what it thinks about
when everyone is alseep.
Gone home, lights out
too dark to see their dreams
If it sits there silently,
and waiting,
for the sky to blush with dawn
color rushing, streaming
like bright banners of the morn
Or does it plays a lullaby
or a happy dancing song.
Do fairy feet come prancing
leaving footprints in the dust?
Or does it lie there sometimes, sleeping
its breathing quiet, hushed?
How contentedly it crouches there
makes me think it is a tame bear
waiting for me to stroke the keys
like I'm stroking fur--
it seems at ease
glad to sing
again for me.

I like the ideas in this
I like the ideas in this poem. It's very.......poetic? I was watching my mom play the piano, and I was on the end of the keyboard. It was lovely and musicly and poeticly inspiring. The reasons (strange as the last one may be) that I wanted to learn how to play the piano, are because 1. I think every one should know how to play the piano. 2. I wanted to be able to just sit down and play. and 3. I love how graceful your hands look when you play. (Note: I just started lessons. Any previously romantic ideas I might have had about the piano could soon change.)
Were you the one who wrote 'Wordless Expression'? If so, I'm wondering if you plan to do anything with the piano, or go in a completely different direction....writer? plain mother? lawyer? cage fighter? The reasons I ask these questions (for no doubt you are wondering), is because I am very interested in people and the way they think...so, except my strangeness.

Just think, OGF, you'll have to play for church all those long three weeks that mom isn't here. Now, how does that make you feel?

That was great, just perfect. My mother is a professional piano player, so even though I don't play myself, I have alot of exposure to "the wild creature". :D
