I had to write a poem surmising chapter eight of L. M. Alcott's "Little Women" for a creative writing class. Hope you enjoy it!
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><
It all started that cold winter’s night,
Any and Jo started that horrible fight.
That is the way it started that day
Listen closely and hear what I say.
The boy next door,
Got seats for but four.
Amy wanted to go with them to the play,
But Jo made her stay.
Amy yelled like she’d faint,
“You’ll be sorry…see if you ain’t!”
But Jo went on her way,
Not seeing the trouble which in her way lay.
The play was a delight,
And Jo almost forgot the terrible fight.
But Amy was plotting,
Her thoughts, continually knotting.
Jo hunted high and low,
But nothing amiss seemed to show
She shrugged her shoulders, let down her hair,
And went up to scribble, deep in her lair.
But her book was gone!
She searched and she searched; almost till dawn,
Until the fire’s glowing ember,
Helped her remember.
Jo’s fears began to grow,
Her temper began to show.
The fire turned brighter, Amy’s cheeks grew quite red
Jo knew it was true; she turned and she fled.
Between them, words no longer were spoken.
Their friendship seemed forever broken.
Laurie and Jo left for the pond,
Amy followed, hoping to bond.
Jo didn’t tell her which ice was bad
Her pride wouldn’t let her forget she was mad.
Around the corner and away she fled;
Toward the center Amy sped.
Something inside her made her stop,
She turned just in time to see Amy drop.
Her heart was pounding;
Amy’s screams were sounding.
Together they flew toward the hole,
A prayer sounded in her soul.
Together they pulled her from the ice,
Thankful she didn’t pay that terrible price.
The fight faded into the past,
Nothing like that can forever last.
United by that fall,
They learned that love conquers all.
Sitting together that cold winter’s night,
Amy and Jo ended that horrible fight.
That is the way it ended that day
Listen closely and hear what I say.

It's kind of sad how people
It's kind of sad how people don't realize how much they love someone until they get a scare or until it's too late. Good poem, OFG.

SO true! Thanks for pointing
SO true! Thanks for pointing that out! It's so sad when someone dies or something like that and all of the sudden everyone realizes just what an achor they were. It depresses me when I see people who are completely passed over by their friends or family.......
Anywho, thanks for the comment!!! Makes me happy!
