8219 Miles to Joy

(I was inspired by a video I watched, titled 'Long Distance Relationship'. All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Hope you like it!)

Crooked teeth shy eyes
What love can do to a boy
They met in Marseilles
She said, "Hi my name is Joy."

He's her chéri, but
Time and planes are similar
They fly by quickly
Ending in a sepulchre

Old crumpled tickets
Memories of a tough love
In his chest pocket
She's all he ever thought of

Seven seas apart
Separated by distance
But joined were their hearts
She fought for her existence

"If you're watching this,
My operation has failed
I am sorry, Chris
We two were like a dovetail."

"I know you've kept them
Watch our videos that you've saved
And with this poem
Bury them beside my grave."

"Promise you'll move on
Bring joy to others, my friend
Even though I'm gone
We'll see each other again."

Here lies Joy, a girl
Who brought joy upon others
A beautiful pearl,
A free spirit, a lover

I like it. Even though the rhythm was a bit iffy, it still worked out pretty nice. :) The last verse is the best, I reckon.

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh
