Who Gives You Your Song?

Who gives you your song
As you go along,
Through pain and strife,
On the road of life?
What brings you joy,
When you your songs employ?
Is it grace you portray
As you go on your way?
Why do you sing
On the first morning,
Or in the new day,
As you your chords play?
Who gives you your lyrics?
Father? Son? Holy Spirit?
Did God endow you?
Tell me please, is it true?
Do not in silence progress,
The answer is yes!
For if God is your song
As you go along,
Then He will give you joy,
Your praise to employ.
His grace you will portray
As you go along the way,
And of course you will sing
In the dawn of morning!
Every new day
Sweet chords you will play,
He will give you fresh lyrics,
Tuned by the Holy Spirit.

This is a good reminder, Damaris, and I loved the rhythm and rhyme of it!

Damaris, this was beautiful. The rhyming was perfect, and I love how you repeated the first part at the end. Great poem!

"My greatest wish for my writing is that it would point you to the Savior."

Hey Damaris, I just wanted to say that when I read this awhile ago (I seem to do this alot - read something a long time ago and comment a long while later, don't I?) I thought that this was so lovely - that it could be a song itself!

Do you play an instrument? I thought of piano when I was reading it.

Anyway, I do love this poem alot. Such a victorious and joyful tone that makes me want to sing. :)

"It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Aww, thanks, Megan!
I play the fiddle and a little bit of piano. :)
I think one of my friends is going to arange it with piano. I know she did one of my other poems, "God is Power". I haven't gotten to hear it yet but I'm really excited about it!
Thanks again, Megan, Kyleigh, and Arthur for your wonderful comments! I can't tell you how much they mean to me.
God bless you, one and all!

I don’t thrive off of chaos: chaos thrives off of me.

Beautiful rhyming and rhythm! It would be lovely as a song :)

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

I loved this, the rhyming was good, and the message was well put in it :D
