what I've been doing since Thanksgiving

WARNING! CAUTION! STOP! BEYOND THIS PLACE BE THE RANTINGS OF A TEENAGER WHOSE LACK OF MIND HASN'T WORKED PROPERLY SINCE NOVEMBER 30TH!!!!THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART OR THOSE PRONE TO MOTION SICKNESS! SOME MATERIEL NOT SUITABLE FOR SANE OR HEALTHY PEOPLE!! DON'T SAY THAT I DIDN'T WARN YOU!!!!BECAUSE I DID!!!
*voice cracking from extensive yelling*

It started as a headache coupled with exhaustion and back pain. Then, while I was washing the dishes, the single most important light needed for that died. I then spent five minutes scrubbing a yellow spot off a plate that wasn't there.
Then I woke up the next morning and realized that my legs didn't work properly, nor did my mind. Every time I got up, the room seemed to spin and I couldn't always tell what was real and wasn't. I got up during the night once, to refill my cup of water, and the next morning, I wasn't sure whether or not I had actually done it. Somehow, miraculously, I managed to make it to the bathroom with no problems.
Then there was the fever. One second, I'd be drenched with sweat. The next all the moisture will have frozen. ugh.
Next came the cough. I've spent the last four days coughing up lungs, and found out that I had six.... *endless coughing followed by what sounds like a cat coughing up a hairball* ......make that seven.
My eating habits changed as well. The only things that I could finish were applesauce and water. Everything else, I would take two bites and be full.
Well, yesterday, at about 6:00 AM, I threw up three times. After the third time, I started shaking violently and uncontrollably. I went and got my mom and she spent the rest of the night with me. I threw up one more time and stopped shaking. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep.
From there, there was nowhere to go but up. I've been getting better. Slowly, but I'm getting better.
At the moment, my mind feels like it's on standby mode: It's on, but I can't do anything with it.

This experience has not been all bad, however. Being temporarily simple minded has it's benefits. I realized things I hadn't noticed before.

Do know just how much energy and brainpower it takes to sit at a computer and type? Or just how sweet water tastes to somebody who's been throwing up for hours and has completely dried out their throat?
Do you know how beautiful snow is when you're inside and feverish? Or just how comforting a pet can be when you're sicker than a dog in the middle ages?
Since November 30th, I've found out all of these things.
And while lying on the couch, shaking violently, fearing that I might not wake up the next morning, my mother came and hugged me and promised eight times that she wouldn't leave me. There is no earthly comfort greater than that of a mother.

When I saw what lay before me, Lord, I cried, what will you do? I thought He would just remove it. But, He gently led me through. Without fire, there’s no refining, without pain, no relief, without flood, there’s no rescue, without testing, no belief.

Oh, you poor thing! I know exactly what you went through during those long hours of pain and... all that other stuff. I had an attack of the "After Thanksgiving" sickness last winter. It wasn't really after Thanksgiving, but I had all the same things you had! Oh it was painful:)

I had a shorter version of this sickness a couple of months ago...it lasted from 10am-2pm, where I shook, had horrid stomach cramps, a fever, and puked every 15-20 minutes. So, I greatly sympathize and hope you feel better!

Poor child (I call everyone 'child' and people don't understand why). You must have been really sick, because you'd have to be just from having with ALL that. Poor child.

I was getting sick, but I wasn't alowed to, because I had to go to the orthodontist the next day.
