we no longer say goodnight

wait
up, we are
shifting,
changing,
we no longer say good night.

our
byes, roll from
lips,
from tongues,
and the bitter taste subsides.

truth: I
was fine on my own
without you:
fine
alone.

What does that mean?

that half of what
comes out
is never even
half
of what I think.

This is so relatable that it hit me like a brick to my chest. I can’t believe I only just now got around to reading it... .
“truth: I” is my favorite line. Thank you for this beautiful piece.

I don’t thrive off of chaos: chaos thrives off of me.

Great work, as usual! You conveyed what seemed to be a very internal process very well--a sense of emotional shift in a relationship and how one deals with it.
