An Absence of the Body

Esteemed Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have been here only rarely in the past few years. I have valid reasons for this, but as I also feel guilty upon occasion, I felt I should enlighten you with an explanation.
The biggest factor behind my absence is simply a lack of time. I'm a full time student, working towards a B.S. in Mathematics and completing requirements for medical school. I also work a total of about 30 hours a week at 3-4 different jobs, depending on the time of year. I recently was asked to substitute teach a couple of math classes while the math department was away at a conference (which is a big deal for an undergrad and eeeeeeeeee I'm so excited you guys!!!!) and am overall just swamped with work and life and my wonderful fiance.
So there, along with a reason, was a short update on what's happening with me. (You guys should comment and let me know how y'all are doing - I miss you!)

The second reason was the content moderation. I understand that certain kinds of writing simply don't fly here. The problem is that more and more, my writing falls into a category that doesn't belong here. I understand and respect that this site is meant to be a certain way. But that does unfortunately mean that I end up not posting as often. For a while I took a few of my writings and edited them a little before posting them (it's not hard to take out a few curse words), but I'm no longer willing to do that (because it IS hard - and it rankles my soul - to take away entire events).

The end result of these is that I often disappear for long periods of time. I do think of this site a lot - it got me started in my writings. I was 14 when I found this site, and I was thrilled when my parents let me join. And my friends here have been so encouraging, and clever, and funny, and wonderful. I do think about you guys, and sometimes I look and see that this person is getting published, or this person has gotten married, and it makes me so happy. Those of you who remember me and were my friends: You guys are the coolest! I love you!

I'll try to be here more often (I say that to myself every time), but in the meantime, keep writing, have a blast, and I'll talk to you later!

P.S.
I am working on something that may find its way here in the future.

I always check your profile to see if you've posted! I'm so glad you're doing well. I am in my freshman year of college now. I'm working toward a B.A. in English(w. creative writing emphasis), Education, and Film Studies, and a M.A. in teaching. I hope you post more soon!

Erin, that's so cool! Sounds like a pretty heavy courseload. And I'm so glad you still check my profile - that really means so much to me.

Bridget, hi! I was so glad to see a post from you. It sounds like you're doing well and really busy. We've missed you! I will never, ever forget that you read that cringeworthy "It's Not That Simple" story and faithfully commented....seriously, thank you for that. I would not have had the strength necessary to forge through!

I'm just beginning my college career, and started all of that this past June. Bye, homeschooling. Bye, leisure time. Ha. But wow, you're busy! 30 hours of work! I'm only taking 10 credit hours and I get in about 10-12 hours and that's plenty for me. Keep it up. What you're doing sounds terrific!

Haha I remember reading your story and loving it. I am SO glad I could help encourage you. And hey, 10 credit hours + work is nothing to sneeze at. I just don't value sleep like I ought to. ;)
