Mulling
Breathing easy conversation
From my lips
I try to shrug casually
To seem nonplussed
You reach out and touch
My shoulder with your hand
To further drive your point
Home
It gets me thinking all the way
Back to my own
With a scoop of ice cream in my lap
The blues and pinks
and yellows
Outside the green of trees and
The fading sky drones
My spoon dipping and
Tapering out against my mouth
That your palm there
Your fingers
Were unnecessary
And maybe that you
Feel comfortable
With me
The thing is, I hadn't
Given you any thought
Back ago two weeks
But then again you hadn't
Made everybody laugh
You hadn't
Asked me if I'd be
In the production of
Young Frankenstein
And said You should
When I said I don't think so
And I'm wondering why
If you're just being friendly
Or if it's something shouldering
A bit more
Meaning
Is it strange
Right now
If I want it to be?
And I don't even--
ah, how embarrassing--
I haven't paid attention
To your name
Styrofoam
I almost didn't
Then I did
We drew slips of paper asking
Each other questions
And I listened
Though in comparison I said
A lot more
Than you and
The thing is
It's hard for me to draw back
To not
Want to rise up and command
The attention with my
Fast words and sluggish wit
They always seems to flare up when
I just don't really need them
Task
Apprehension
In my stomach
My chest my lungs
Exhaling
It out
Letting go of my
Hesitations
Worse-case-scenario
I'll have to
Retake it
But I got this
I tell myself
That I've got this
Inclination
I feel a thrumming
In my veins
A match strikes and
Motivates
Me to the center of my
Steel-toed being
I'm going places
I'm going to be
Seen completely
My voice will join the chorus
Of everyone else who has
Given in to the sway of journalism
That's what I'm leaning toward
At least
Ten Thirty
We arrange
Hastily
A phone conversation
We are two
And I keep talking
I feel badly that you
Haven't been given the floor
Too much yet
But then you do
And it's lovely to hear what
All has ensued
In the absence of we from
Each other's long days
How nice it is to sit here
Laughing with you
Over the tiniest things
That we get on the deepest level
I was thinking about us
Meeting
All those years ago now
And where I would be
Without you
And though we've skimmed
Sandpaper ground
And we've been fortunate to touch
The highest of clouds
Together we're the best version of ourselves
That either of us could be
Two hours on the phone and I'm feeling
Light on my feet
The best word for it
Though simplistic
Is Happy

I love!
Read this a while ago and forgot to comment! So well-felt and honest.

:D LOVE THIS!!!
Mulling: :) ;) :o Ooohhhh.... I know what this is about!!!!!!! This was well written despite my girly desires to jump up and down and gossip :P lol. I loved how it felt like I was actually inside your brain, like I could almost hear your thought processes... like you know in movies how they'll have the voice over of their thoughts :P yes, like that! As weird as that sounds. Loved it! "With a scoop of ice cream in my lap/The blues and pinks/ and yellows/Outside the green of trees and/The fading sky drones/My spoon dipping and/Tapering out against my mouth" LOVE THIS!!!!
Styrofoam: Okay, I love this! It's such vivid imagery, a scene, that you've created with just seems like a few words! It's so lovely, Homey! The way you write is so absolutely wonderful.
Task: LOVE TASK! Really captured the feeling well of having to do something and being slightly anxious about it, yet confident. Very, very nice!
Inclination: I feel a thrumming/In my veins/A match strikes and/Motivates/Me to the center of my/Steel-toed being.... I wish I could copy and paste the whole poem. It's so good!
And Of course I absolutely ADORE Ten Thirty! It made me literally happy cry :D I'm so grateful and so blessed to have your friendship! I'm sure I don't show enough appreciation of you, but you are one of the most important people in my life, only falling behind my actual blood family :P Hope you know what an absolutely incredible writer and person you are! Love ya DCS!!!!

Ah! I skimmed these a while
Ah! I skimmed these a while back and meant to come back and read them more thoroughly. I love them. You paint crystal-clear images that also give us a story, like every line is esssential for us to get the whole picture. It's a great talent to be able to pick your words efficiently.
"Fast words and sluggish wit" relatable and well stated.
"And though we've skimmed/sandpaper ground" I just love that. It's unique.
"I feel a thrumming/in my veins/a match strikes and/motivates" a great physical description.
I love these! Sorry I didn't get to commenting sooner! <3

Oooh Lovely :)
Homey,
This is lovely! You have such great rhythm in these poems! I felt quite lulled while reading them and disappointed when I came to the end and there wasn't any more to read! Each one of these poems was great, but I liked the last one best. It reminds me so much of my best friend and I. I just told her the other day almost exactly what you said in this poem! I too tend to monopolize the conversation, which I am always apologizing to her for! It is such a blessing to find such a good friend that you can be the best of who you are when you're together. Talking with her only for a little while makes me so incredibly happy and uplifted! This poem reminded me of that. In fact, I think I'm going to contact her again right now and tell her how much I treasure her! Thanks for sharing Homey!
