Although I initially was opposed to the standards, I haven't found them particularly crippling. I actually think that they provide a good platform for creativity, so as not to get lazy with my writing.

I've also enjoyed the fact that there isn't a posting limit.
I found it frustrating when the plugin worked. I don't often post more than twice per week nowadays, but I like the constant influx of new writing. Since it is a website for sharing writing, I always thought the limit seemed a little silly. :)

I know I was one of the ones opposed to the guidelines, but I agree with Erin in that it hasn't caused my writing any harm. It's actually nice to come to a place where you know the content you read is going to be appropriate, because there's so much otherwise anywhere else...you can find all that on other writing websites. So I apologize for my initial opposition; at the time, it was very shocking to me, but I do understand.

This site has helped me grow as a writer by leaps and bounds, and that's solely because of the platform that's been provided--a website that's full of thoughtful, kind, and caring people who are always helpful readers. A lot of people never get a chance to have their writing read and critiqued like mine is on here, and so I thank you for that. I have no criticisms of the site--it's been integral in my life the past five (!!) years, and every comment I've received has been priceless to me.

I know I've broken the posting limit, but I thought when that disappeared that it meant we were allowed to post as often as we like. I still try not to post more than twice a week--usually, I don't have more to post than that--but there are moments when inspiration comes and I've written something that I'm really excited to share, and so I post it.

I agree with Erin in that I really like that there isn't a posting limit. That feels very freeing. I don't know what the likelihood of somebody going wild and posting, say, five or six things in succession would be anyway, but of course that's up to you. Just offering up my opinion.

Anyway, thank you for the update!

Edit: Oh, and of course, I like seeing other people share what they have too, without limitations. If somebody posts three times a week once, and once the next, and four the next--then I'm happy to read it. I don't know, I feel like everything everyone shares on here is for reason.

I'm going to disagree with everyone else on the posting limit - I think it's good "quality control" - if there's a limit, we're going to make sure we really want to and are ready to post a piece, as well as making AP less forum-y and more like an online magazine - not that there's anything wrong with forums but AP is more sophisticated than that.

Anyway, thanks for posting, James - I'm looking forward to your future posts and having you around more.

I know it's not really the most original thing to say, but ditto to everything Homeschoolgirl and Erin said, I couldn't have said it better.
I will have to beg that you do not take the posts down to one per week!! I already post poetry every week and if I were to have a fiction piece I wanted to share during the week I would have to give up that weeks poetry. I hardly ever post more than two posts per week already just because of time and inspiration.... But the freedom to share when I do have time and inspiration feels so special, like no matter what I'm being heard. AP has been a friend to me in that respect, it's always been there to listen :)... I understand what Kyleigh is saying and it makes sense... But I think the way we aren't really a newspaper but more formal than a forum makes AP special, it's like he have formalities but we are still free to share! I like the democracy of it, and I would rather not AP turn into a monarchy.

Thank you for this letter. I support whatever decision you make about posting limit. I think limiting the posts would force us to wait a few days, and over the few days, we would be able to improve and look at it from different eyes. To wait a few days is nothing. But I am not going to fight for either way. It's a small matter, and I don't want to make leading this site even harder and more time-consuming than what it already has.

And I have to agree with the others, although I didn't agree with one of the standards, it didn't harm me or my writing much at all.
And I also think that having limited post is probably a good idea...although I think once a week is a little constricting. Two is plenty, in my view...since I have trouble posting that much anyway!

I haven't been around much either -- more due to college life than anything else -- so I don't really know how the implementation (or non-implementation) of guidelines and post limit has been working out. But in any case, we should reconnect!
